Great. You've just nullified what it is to fly concorde. If it's GPS you want why not stick to PSS Fischer Price?Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/conc_capt_ba.jpgConcorde Training Captainwww.BAVirtual.co.uk

:-roll At the risk of sounding rude, adding a GPS to these payware jets is ridiculous and silly. What's the point of programming all the complexities, just to bypass it and fly the way you'd fly a default or freeware plane? For the overwhelming majority of serious simmers, fun IS learning all the systems and flying the way a real pilot does, not using a GPS. I don't see the point of spending money on something you aren't using the way it's meant to be used. By the way, as the SSTSIM website says, it's for serious simmers only. In other words, not gamers. I don't care about the Concorde, but I personally love the Boeing jets from Level-D, PMDG, and others, and I gotta tell ya, they're really simple to learn how to fly. Not being able to program the text-based GPS (FMC) is just lazy IMO. It really is an easy thing to learn. I can get into any of my payware Boeings and be airborne in 15 minutes. That's getting things going for taxi, programming the FMC with pre-determined route, and going to the runway.

There are alot of us who buy the higher end paywares because of the interior graphics, exterior, sound sets, flight model and overall quality. I also got my head chopped off over at the LDS forums for admitting I used time acceleration which I know to you realism nuts is a sin. Its all good. They got my $40 and Ive had a great time flying the Concorde. No matter how many buttons, knobs, gauges and skygods they have trying to convince me how "realistic" these planes are, no matter how long the flight is, I still end up at the same place I started the flight. Staring at a computer screen sitting in my room. And by the way this will get your hair standing up on your neck.I rolled the Concorde........ Just cause I wanted to.

Hi JIMJAM. No problem guy. You have a BLAST! The important thing, the SSTSIM dev's and beta folks are glad you are enjoying this awesome Concorde. That is the only thing that matters. That said, I hope someday you'll have an opportunity to learn about her...and make a realistic flight across the pond..or where ever you choose. All the info and tools are there. Give it a try sometime. It's actually a BLAST flying this magnificent Concorde procedurally. At any rate JIMJAM...you're having FUN! Enjoy.Best,David

>No, FL600 is the 'limit' ;)>>Cheers,>Paul>>Concorde Training Captain>www.BAVirtual.co.ukFL600 was the operational limit. The airframe and certification limit was FL650 ;) .Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.sstsim.com/images/team/JR.jpg

Thanks guys for the detailed explanation of what's going on on my end... :-)

That's why they call it a simulator. http://deephousepage.com/smilies/smashfreakB.gifPersonally I don't care how people fly their add-ons, but wouldn't you like to learn some of the FMC programming at least?

Even better is your credibility has just collapsed with such smug childish remarks. I would have expected better from a "Training Captain". If he's got it, he can do what ever he likes, add GPS, paint it sky blue and so on. As to your reference to PSS, perhaps we'll see an apology (or another toys out the pram attack) ? AD

You can do what you want. But, to me thats like buying an expensive fine wine, and pouring it into a plastic mug.

If thats your preference, it's up to you, you bought it with your money, it's yours and is nobody else's business. Whats next..vetting customers for suitability ?AD

Knew alot would get fired up but to each his own. Ive been flying sims since I owned a mighty 286 running at a blazing 16 mhz. My first sim was microsoft f119 if you can remember back that far. Since then Ive spent tons of money and even owned the Thrustmaster wooden f-16 pit they came out with. Now I spend an average of $100 a month on addons and even bought Allied Force just to support the effort to keep sims alive. I have in my hanger over 2 dozen paywares, you name it I probably got it.PMDG 737,747-LDS 767-Citation X, ** P-51,B-17-Flight 1 ATR-Aeroworx King AIR,Conquest 2-Dreamfleet 727-RFP 747-Aerosoft a-10 sh-60- F2SX F-117- Real air-ALL- Cloud 9 f109 A dozen or so more but you get the idea.Fsgenesis full world mesh, Active Sky, Night enviroment- Bev, Radar Contact,Flight Enviroment-Ultimate Terrain-FDC Live Cockpit and Passengers. UUhh Think that might be most of em.I have 2 computers with fs2004 running alone on and the other has Alied Force,Pacific Fighters and a bunch of older sims.Reason for all the above useless information? You cannot judge someones love or dedication to the hobby of flight sims simply because he does not want to start cold and dark and decides to use a GPS.BTY- I downloaded the new BETA Nvidia driver last night 81.84 and got a pretty good fps boost with my 6800gt ultra. Worth a try.

Paul,<< If it's GPS you want why not stick to PSS Fischer Price? >>That's a ridiculous comment. PSS produce some excellent software.Up to now the discussion had been intelligent and interesting. Your comment is both unwelcome and contributes nothing to the discussion. :-mad

A refreshing attitude! Well done to the developers who understand this point and make simplification a virtue, and to those who provide a wide variety of pre-defined situations as part of the product.Personally, I can work both the classic and the contemporary 'aircraft'. Since a lot of it is boring and tedious, I can't always be bothered with it in my leisure time. Nice to know, though.Glad that you know how to have fun with your products, quite inspirational!Michael

On the subject of reality, BA Virtual shows Concorde in its current Long Haul fleet rather than its Classic fleet. Plus I recall that, when last active, Concorde was in the real BA Short Haul fleet. And I am not convinced that the real BA continues to employ people as "Concorde Training Captains".Goes to show that we can all have fun in this genre according to our own perceptions and aspirations.Best wishes with yours.Michael
