Chris  what I was  referring  to  my comment  is  that  if  your  having  surgery   and  the  surgeon is  using  the scalpel  usually  your  asleep  and  wouldn't  know  how  the  surgeon is using  it

Are you in the cockpit of the airliner when the crew takes off? Same principle.

The F/O is fine. You don't ham-fist a jet let alone a C172. In my CFI days, I always taught my students to handle the yoke with just their fingertips, maybe their index finger and thumb if the bumps became severe - gentle and precise control - no ham-fisting, and above all else be comfortable and relaxed.

Just the other day at work we were talking about how much more control input you need when flying an airplane rather than a helicopter. When I started flying planes, (I learned to fly rotary-wing first) I remember thinking about how much more control inputs you would needs compared to what I was used to. But I completely agree and understand what you mean. The engineers who designed the plane designed them with comfortable control pressures in mind.

Guess  you missed  the point I was  trying  to make it was  humour  nothing  else,  I say it  again  if  your  in surgery  you not  able  to see  what the surgeon is  doing  for  all you know  he  could be  doing  it with a pair  of  scissors.  As  in the cockpit  your  able  to see  what the pilot  is  doing
