  • Vendors who support multiple sims with a single product/installer earn preferential consideration from this simmer.

  • Majority of people also use it as an entertainment product, something which the professional license doesn't 'support' either.

  • Suggest buying P3d, and next time you're buying an add on choose the p3d version. That means slowly over time you'll transition. You don't need to give up fsx when you buy p3d - you can still use your

For that matter I don't need a flight simulator....oops, I almost forgot, I do need a flight simulator since I'm a "student pilot" and not doing this for "entertainment".

Student pilot on two Boeings and two GAs? That's quite a mouthful.

All interesting responses but this is a very simple consumer decision.   Don't get my wrong, I am not bashing these businesses.  They are well within their rights to charge whatever they wish for their products.

I have repeatedly been flying a scenario in FSX and then flying the same scenario on Prepar3d and each time asking myself, are the benefits, the improved graphics, increase in stability (but lower frame rates) worth the eventual $400 I would have to pay to get back to where I am in FSX.   I'm sure some here will answer with a resounding yes.   Personally, I don't think so.  I don't see the additional $400 in value but if these vendors can convince enough people that the value is there...more power to them.

I agree with you fully CajunRon. I've spent enough money to get a PPL on FSX since I started simming 10 years ago and feel like I have enough in scenery and planes to keep me busy for a long time. Hey, it's summer! Grand kids are here and there is too much to live for besides this table top fantasy game. Mean no offense to anyone but sometimes I feel simming is taking too much time that should be spent on better things. Who knows how much we have left.

Fortunately for me, all my addons (with the exception of the PMDG 777 and 1 Aerosoft airport) will work with P3D without having to repurchase them. So I'm gonna keep FSX installed just for flying the T7. I accept that PMDG will force you to buy their product again. Sure, it came as a huge disappointment but I understand the reason why. I actually considered repurchasing again, until I saw that the price jumps up to 130 quid and I have my limits. I've never had the NGX so I may consider buying this for P3D as an alternative, as the price is a lot more inviting.

However, this won't stop changing to P3D. I'm happy enough to have 2 sims running on my PC. Look at it this way. If you upgrade your car to a bigger model you pay x amount of money for it. But a car has to be maintained, and the parts for a bigger car are generally more expensive than those for your previous smaller car.

What I'm trying to say is to reconsider purchasing P3D and only buy your addons as you need them, and space them out over time, and limit yourself pricewise.

Best regards,
