June 5, 201610 yr Hi, I've been going through the flight deck trying to locate everything, but I can't find two items: * Alternate static source select * Auxillary hydraulic pump Where are these located? Rob Smith.
June 5, 201610 yr Commercial Member Where are these located? There's an entire pictorial, labeled walk through in the POH. Please have a look. Kyle Rodgers
June 5, 201610 yr Author Just to prove I RTFM... POH Pages 36 to 54 show the locations of every switch and instrument in the cockpit. There is a documentation bug regarding the AUXILIARY BLOWER (two, actually). * The switch itself is not shown in the manual (the manual was written using screenshots from an older version apparently) * The manual makes reference to the AUXILIARY BLOWER LIGHT. There appears to be no such thing. What it is perhaps referring to the VOLTAGE REGULATOR OVERHEAT warning light? I have found the auxiliary hydraulic pump - in the manual it is written "hyd." and not "hydraulic", which is why I completely missed it. I'm still unable to find the static source selector. Page 97 is the first reference specifically discussing the static system, and its backup. I see nothing at all in the pictorials on pages 36-54, or by looking in the cockpit directly, that looks like a static source selector. Rob Smith.
June 5, 201610 yr Commercial Member a documentation bug Documentation errors are now bugs? Maybe it's just the tech writer in me, but that just sounds odd. I've passed it on to the team member who wrote the POH to see what he says. Kyle Rodgers
June 5, 201610 yr Author Bug, error, meh... Just demonstrating that I am actually reading the manual. I still don't know where the static source selector is though. Thanks! Rob Smith.
June 6, 201610 yr Bug, error, meh... Just demonstrating that I am actually reading the manual. I still don't know where the static source selector is though. Thanks! Rob Smith. If they are modeled in the sim, the alternate static sources valves, (according to the POH, pg 86), should be outboard of the pilot and copilot seats. Most likely on the sidewall somewhere below the side windows, and likely close to the main instrument panel. Not at my computer to check at the moment. June 6, 201610 yr Commercial Member Hi Rob, Could you point me to the page where the 'auxiliary blower light' is mentioned? Thanks! EDIT: I found it. Will correct. It is in fact, or should be, VOLTAGE REGULATOR OVERHEAT warning light. Cheers, Henning
June 7, 201610 yr Rob, I too am having trouble locating the auxiliary hydraulic pump. Despite your "I have found the auxiliary hydraulic pump - in the manual it is written "hyd." and not "hydraulic", which is why I completely missed it." I still can't find it I have searched the manual using "hyd.", but no luck. The nearest I could find is EMG HYD PUMP? Any more help appreciated... cheers chris
June 7, 201610 yr It seems that Auxiliary pump switch is called 'Emergency Hyd Pump'. It's logical after you read what manual says about this pump: "An electrically driven auxiliary hydraulic pump, mounted in the hydraulic accessories compartment, provides an emergency source of pressure." It's the switch under flaps lever, secured with the red guard. I'm not sure if it has any label, but if it has it is hard to see it. Pawel Dragan Poland, Gdansk
June 8, 201610 yr Author As Pawel said regarding the hydraulic pump location. Look for a red guard near the flap handle with the flaps UP. Looked both sides of the cockpit but couldn't see anything that resembles a static source selector lever. @Henning: Great! Thank you! Rob Smith.
June 15, 20169 yr hi all I have read these post and have noticed that you guys are talking about poh with pages above 56 The only thing that i have found with pmdg is a intro book with 56 pages. No official POH . I need more info in order to fly this beast. Earlier I have read about people that cant find alternative static source and i agree. Last night after 2.5 hours of flying at night I found classic blocked static situation at night in marginal vfr over the ocean. almost lost it twice. Pitot heat on still even after landing altimeter was still stuck at 20k airspeed also at cruise. If this is valid failure then we need a way to fix it in flight I am about to buy a official d c 6 Aircraft Operating Manual , i would rather use one that should be provided by pmdg. any thoughts?
June 15, 20169 yr Commercial Member any thoughts? It's in the same folder as the Intro Manual: [X-Plane Folder On Your Computer]\Aircraft\PMDG\DC6\Documents Full names - first and last - are required in the forum here. Kyle Rodgers
August 5, 20169 yr Author Hi, I've run the updated installer and looked again, and can't find the alternate static source selector valve. Is this modelled?? It would seem not (surprising, for such a major item). Rob Smith.
August 5, 20169 yr When I do my video covering the cold&dark flight I will include the location of all "Usable" items. Justin Loehner Classic Commercial Air Montuky Air Services fseconomy.net
