October 27, 200520 yr I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm a little disgusted at CS. I just spent over $50 on their C-130 that took over THREE years of development, and these sounds are the best they can produce? I spent 6 years in the USAF as a flight medic on the C-130, and I can tell you that very few portions of their sound package actually represent the real airplane. The flaps and gear aren't even close. Thanks to Mike Hambly for his work. I hear his sounds are pretty good for the 130 so I'll definitely give them a try. If it weren't for the sounds I'd give the CS C-130 an A. With the sounds they included I'm giving it a B-. What a shame.
October 27, 200520 yr In some respects I can see your complaint, but personally I didnt buy the CS C-130 for the sound file. Granted it could have been better, but thats the nice thing about the flight sim world. Where there is payware, there is also freeware. Dont like some part of something you bought like the sound set, someone probably made a freeware set. Dont want to spend the money for a payware add-on, chances are there is a freeware similar. There are a handful of decent C-130 models out there. Same thing for the PMDG aircraft. There are freewares of each kind of plane or something similar from the Beech to the 744.Same thing can be said for weather textures. There are freeware ones out there that are decent. Then look at the foundation for all add-ons. FS9 in this case. It was decent out of the box, but over time developers of both freeware and payware have made it even better. So again, look at the payware addons. Its kind of like a car. You have a base model, and you build upon it, or change things to suit your needs. Add a better stereo. Add custom rims, better tires, ground effects, etc. Im not disgusted with the C-130 at all. Matter of fact since its release, its all Ive flown in the sim and I am loving every minute of it.
October 27, 200520 yr I took the chance and have really love flying this plane. However it still amazes me they released it with the electrical bugs.It also worries me that when someone form CS posted here, I got the impression that they felt there was nothing really major wrong with the plane but they would look into it.I am a fun flyer and not a systems fanatic so Im not going to miss starting from cold/dark or go through every panel looking for errors. But unless you do not use the reversers or only making one stop, the reversers throwing off the power TO ME is pretty major.Im loosing my main a horizon and power to the radar. Then sometimes I will also loose my gps and the abilty to lower the gear.I know, I know, So dont use the reversers right. Well yes thats a solution but just the fact that after 3 years and countless beta testers, they shipped it out anyways leads me to beleive that maybe it cannot be fixed.Ok Im done whining. It kinda like marrying your dream woman,Playboy Playmate of the year and on your honeymoon finding a huge tattoo of her ex boyfriend tattooed across her butt. Most the times it doesnt bother you cause you cant see it but you know its there.
October 27, 200520 yr I'm using the Alphasim sound set and am pretty happy with it although there's no GTC sounds. Is there a way to edit the sound.cfg to include the CS GTC sounds? They're in a seperate Captain Sim folder in the FS9 root dorectory.
October 28, 200520 yr Hi,You can use the following url to upload whatever file you which up to 1 Gb: www.yousendit.com , and place the e-mail addresses of all the people that are requesting your file. The link they provide is valid for a week ( 7 days or 25 downloads ) after that the file will be removed and the link voided. And BTW it's FREE...Regards.ALGP.S. October 28, 200520 yr I did'nt buy the C130 just for the sound either. But for $51, I'm disappointed in the package and the support from CS. I bought the 727 from CS a few years ago and their support was 100%. Now I must emailed them for help and to this day no support. I wish I could get a refund on this one and wait on further improvents.Bill M Bill McIntyre Asus StrixB650E-F Gamer, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, Corsair Titanium DDR5 64GB, Samsung 990 PRO-4TB M.2, (4) 2TB SSD's, Corsair H1150i liquid cooler, RTX 2080TI Founders Edition, (2) LG 34" HD Curved Monitor, Sound Blaster Audigy X, 1Kw PC Power & Cooling Power Supply, Corsair Obsidian Full tower Case. October 28, 200520 yr I expect any add-on this complex to have some technical issues, but some of these are so glaring as to make me wonder how much beta testing did they really do? I mean, how did they not know about the essential bus and external power problems? The answer is likely that they knew and decided to roll the dice with an incomplete product.
October 28, 200520 yr If I remember correctly, CS did say that they were going to release a buggy program, and then collect info on it. Sort of a new thing: pay to beta-test. As for the sound, come, an excellent sound set is now a part of every major highend addon; but, of course, CS cuts corners here. ricardo
October 28, 200520 yr He, he,you've been quiet for a couple of days now, but yore'e adicted to it, right?I've heard some people just started CSBA. Captain Sim Bashers Anonymous. Join ;)Eagle
