Hey Alan,

Doing great flying the C-47.

I read the FSX night lighting isn't complete? Is that true? Any other limitations known in the beta?

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

that is true. there is a reflective glass on the instruments which does not stay transparent under the cabin lighting in fsx.

i think currently the paratroopers only work in fsx and not p3d.

there is an issue with the altimeter calibration value displaying incorrectly but hitting the 'b' key works.

those are the only issues i'm aware of, there may be more listed on the sim outhouse thread.

it's really a fantastic plane!!

cheers

It's been a while. Has the lighting been fixed in the C-47 yet? Other issues remain?

This is the current state (from the readme files) with the recent updates:

V 3.14 VVC NIGHTLIGHTING

Currently, aka 'for the time being', we can offer two types of cockpit night lighting. Red ambient cockpit light and UV light that will light up the Main Panels, Overhead Panels and Gauges (with a future final update panel and gauge lights will be separated). Red ambient light can be switched On/Off with a single knob on the Captain's Overhead Panel. UV Lighting consists of various UV lamps situated on the left and right cockpit walls, roof and throttle quadrant. Currently they will be switched On/Off all together, hopefully we'll be able to change that with the next and final update.

As opposed to the single ambient light knob the UV light can be switched On/Off with three knobs. One is situated on the Captain's panel, a second one on the Co-Pilot's panel and a third one on top of the Throttle Quadrant. Click the switch and it will move to 'Start', meaning it will take a second or two for the UV light to actually come on. Once it does the knob will automatically turn to 'On'. Click the knob again and it will move to 'Off' .

The gauges' dials and needles are painted with so called 'radioluminescent' paint that glows in the dark. Dangerous stuff in the real world, lucky for us it is harmless. In real life the glow of this radioluminescent paint would gradually disappear and that UV lighting therefore helped a lot for the gauges to still be readable during the night.

Other fixes:

1. Multiplayer capable exterior models with adjustments to props, chocks, and steps. (Chocks are now linked to the "spoiler" variable. If you have a control key assigned to spoiler, you can handle the chocks via that key. Steps now deploy/retract automatically with the operation of door #1.)

2. Exterior animated windscreen wipers. (Note that if you turn the wipers on in the VC and then switch to spot view, the wiper sound will continue. In this case you can use Monitor > Misc to make them run without any sound.)

3. Improved hardware mixture lever support. (All detents including Idle Cutoff selectable. Take care not to select ICOF unintentionally, as this will shut down your engines.)

4. "Checklist completed" soundbite now plays when completing a checklist page.

5. AH airplane representation white dot corrected. (now integrated with airplane rep.)

6. Overhead paratrooper switches corrected.

7. Altitude gauge pressure indicator corrected.

8. RMI/ADF needles to park horizontally when battery or avionics are OFF.

9. COM/NAV radios tunable with battery off. (Rotary knobs operate mechanically.)

10. Blinking red transponder light when turned ON.

11. New hydraulics sound.
