December 14, 200520 yr >Smooth as glass virtual cockpits would be very nice. As would a seperate "panel.mdl" so that I could delete VCs from models without having to beg the creators to make two versions of the plane.

John,Great point here. My wish would be for them to redo the entire graphics engine from scratch. Make use of modern technology. Transform light/shadows, use all of the new stuff that every card gets now. It's definately possible to build such a place. Look at games like Unreal back when it first came out. Those graphics were mindboggling for the computer hardware available for the time. It's all about technique. Not just graphics, but model more real-world things like ground effect. Right now, an add-on plane tells Flight Simulator how it should fly. In X-Plane, the plane tells the engine how it's shaped. The engine (not the plane's engine :() itself tells the plane how it should fly based on the geometry.STOP trying to be backwards compatible.I have many hundreds (maybe over a thousand) of dollars worth of FS9 addons. All software, I didn't count any hardware into that figure. I'd give up EVERY ONE of them if they would redo the engine. The current engine is so outdated because they wanted to make everything backwards compatible for 2 versions.... let the past die! Start FRESH!Just my take.Oh and I agree 100% about modelling real weather. With a new engine it wouldn't be nearly as hard on a system as you'd think.
December 14, 200520 yr I echo...echo...echo...the suggestion to:Allow for sloped runways.Allow for wet/snowy runways.Have weather interact with the world and aircraft much more realisticaly. An example would be for there not to be all-white ground textures for the North during the winter season, since it doesnt always stay white up there. If it could somehow show a white layer in places or all over where the online weather shows reports of snow, that would be too awesome. A brand NEW engine for graphics and flight modeling.
December 14, 200520 yr From my experience with Active Sky V, I agree with you on the existing code. I have no noticable frame rate hit and it seems to transition weather nicely. I just flew from KCLT to KMSP with it and went from clear skies to rain storm with moderate turbulence, to snow storm with light chop, to low overcast and light snow with marginal visibility without any popping clouds or sudden immersion into the soup.----------------------------------------------------------------John MorganReal World: KGEG, UND Aerospace Spokane Satillite, Private ASEL 141.2 hrs, 314 landings, 46 inst. apprs.Virtual: MSFS 2004"There is a feeling about an airport that no other piece of ground can have. December 14, 200520 yr The thing is that it's hard to compare a FPS which has maybe a mile or 2 of visible objects. FS has to deal with over 100 miles of visible objects (the terrain mesh counts as an object too). FS graphics will always be behind first-person shooters for that reason alone.----------------------------------------------------------------John MorganReal World: KGEG, UND Aerospace Spokane Satillite, Private ASEL 141.2 hrs, 314 landings, 46 inst. apprs.Virtual: MSFS 2004"There is a feeling about an airport that no other piece of ground can have. December 14, 200520 yr A usable EPR variable! :-hah regardsEd http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/edetroit100/edley.gifAMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb PC3200 DDR, 300Gb HD 128Mb DDR Nvidia 6600GT PCI Express, Audigy 2 ZSCH Products Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant My FS Videos
December 14, 200520 yr At least you should be able to ACCURATELY start all the default from "cold and dark".Best Regards, Donny:-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.:-wave
December 14, 200520 yr I would like the ability to "direct along a track" AI, if I desired, to an airport. There are lots of small airports in mountainous areas and AI are alway running into the sides of hills either on takeoff or landing. It would be fun to fly the approach in my plane and start recording were ever I want and upon landing turnoff the recording. Then any AI and are enroute to whatever airport I set this up at, intercept the start of the recorded track and copy my approach.Am I making sense lol....Its been a loooong day :-)
December 15, 200520 yr 1. A utility which you run (with options) to find the most optimal settings for your system.2. A graphics engine that draws sceneries (defined in text files) based on scenery libraries provided by artists and not the developers.3. A graphics engine which only draws objects/planes that are visible.4. A integrated multiplayer environment that uses VOIP and combines human and robot ATC/pilots. Every user has the same AI flight schedules but the AI planes and liveries may be modified. 5. Navigation/sid/star data updated in flight sim via the internet for all planes.John.
December 15, 200520 yr Here we go again,.....1. Usable EPR variables.2. Clouds making shadows. And no sharp aircraft shadows when cloudy.3. Frozen lakes & water in wintertime.4. Different snow thickness on ground. 5. Improved nightlights overall.6. No global textures. I want different textures depending on where in the world I fly.and last but certainly not least.......7. A completely new graphic engine which is much more fluid than the "stoneage" engine which is in FS now.;-)And,...did I say,.....Usable EPR variables....?....:-hahhttp://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gif"Real men fly with round gauges"[/color] Staffan
December 15, 200520 yr There are a number of things i would like be here are just a few:-a gps that would allow you to program in exact coordinates-improve the helicopters-better scenery so vfr flying as not as dull -ruffer runways with slopes for bush flying-be able to interact with the scenery so that you could drop a passenger off in the middle of no where or pick up goods -have the sim not start with the engines running-allow external loads for helicopters -more oil rigs and helipads-more ai traffic with helicopters includedI relize that some of what I would like done would make for a more exspensive sim but it would be nice not to feel the need to buy all the addons becasue right out of the box fs9 does a bad job of making vfr flying and dead reconing enjoyable or possible.
December 15, 200520 yr 1. Wind affected rain and snow.2. No more cardboard trees.3. Autogen aligned to streets.4. Traffic on roads at low altitudes.5. Mouse click spots for animations.John.
December 15, 200520 yr A product that makes full us of the existing hardware such as the latest video cards, dual core, dual processores, 64 bit, etc. Give us the full functionality of all the hardware as the cake, and the third partie's will add the frosting.Bob (Lecanto, Fl)
December 15, 200520 yr - Sloped runways and seasonal, environmental runway effects- FSUIPC and Active Sky integrated- More detailed default airports- Better dynamic scenery out of the box (pushback, catering, fuel)- Better ATC- Better flightplanner- Realistic transition altitudesand last but not least...- Comfortable virtual seats in 1st class with In-flight PTV for those boring long-haul flights.
