THE most needed improvement to the next version?

Apart from the obvious like an update of the graphics engine that allows for more realistic lighting effects, an improved weather engine and better ATC that is adhering to regional changes depending where you fly, the most important improvement should be a complete new build of the Flight Dynamics engine that takes real world physics into account in a much more realistic fashion than the current one.

Hire Austin Meyer for flight/atmospheric model. :(

"Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

Would be nice for timezones to act correctly, ie as you fly toward the sun it gradually comes up when at high enough speed, so that timezones are if you like graduated, and a built in intelligent co-pilot who learns to work with you the way you work (okay that may be asking a bit much).I would also love to see an airshow option, where you could choose planes and place them at an airport in an airshow kind of layout. That would also be able to choose the flyable ones and have them ready for you to just taxi out and fly in whatever order you set.

Less operator error ;-)

>Less operator error ;-)>>ROFL!!!!!By the way . . uhm . . . are you all even sure they are going to even come OUT with an FS10? Every time I ask Microsoft about it they keep giving me the impression they aren't in the process of FS10 yet. On the other hand, IF they ever DID decide to do an FS10, I'd love to see two improvements: Weather and ATC. With ATC at LEAST give the ability to have an emergency instead of cancel IFR, go VFR, and HOPE you get landing clearance from tower on your landing . .. LOL . . . my best moment was coming in for a PERFECT engine-out landing and an AI flew by me and I was told to go around . . . uhm . . . least to say the AI had a tailgater on the way in LOL.The mention above about weather fronts and dynamic global weather would be awesome, too.Still . . . has anyone else contacted Microsoftie and gotten a similar reply?

>>I have many hundreds (maybe over a thousand) of dollars worth>of FS9 addons. All software, I didn't count any hardware into>that figure. I'd give up EVERY ONE of them if they would redo>the engine. The current engine is so outdated because they>wanted to make everything backwards compatible for 2>versions.... let the past die! Start FRESH!>>Just my take.>>Oh and I agree 100% about modelling real weather. With a new>engine it wouldn't be nearly as hard on a system as you'd>think.$3,000+ worth here, and I am the same. I'd give it all up if they did an engine that would be more up to date with today's technology. And of course if they did that, then 3rd party add-ons would be made to be up to standard as well . . . imagine PMDG, PSS and Feelthere add-ons with new graphics engines in place? WOW!

>>Smooth as glass virtual cockpits would be very nice. >>As would a seperate "panel.mdl" so that I could delete VCs>from models without having to beg the creators to make two>versions of the plane. There is an add-on out there that accomodates this already and is very accurate for the 2D panel fan . . . it's called the "Elite" flight sim packages, and they are FAA approved :-)

Gotta chime in with a couple that I consider high priority:1) Weather. Currently there is limited ability to display solid/overcast cloud layers, ones where you can have a breakout effect when you go below. This is pretty important for those trying IFR training in FS. All effects of weather should be tuned - more frequent turbulence, wind shear, with terrain playing a more prominent role in this. Transitions/fronts could be improved greatly of course. All combined with a better real-time weather downloading feature - one that actually works would be nice.2) Ability to have proper turboprop aircraft. Model beta range should be high priority.3) Figure out how to allow higher fps in VC's, somehow overcoming the more VC panels lower gauge refresh limitations currently in effect.4) Better implementation of current graphics cards - make this thing less CPU dependent. Perhaps build support for the upcoming physics processing units that are slated to appear this year. ppl with 7800GTX cards are feeling like with ###### away their cash ;-D5) On the fly filing of flight plans without having to leave the sim. ATC that has two modes, simple and realistic. Realistic will vector you and the AI aircraft with SIDs and STARS, give orders to hold, etc. Implement a FAA inquiry when you bust airspace.5a) A thorough base FMC/GPS with SDK that allows for 3rd Parties to easily create useful devices that employ VNAV/LNAV where applicable, SID/STARs, per-aircraft data weight and performance data, fuel consumption, winds, etc.6) "Full realism" model for GA aircraft, that includes inspection cycles, random failures/errors based on inspection/repair, gauges that need repair/replacing, oil changes, tire replacements, and a running tally of costs. Allow base variables to be set by the aircraft designer. Aeroworx has some of this in their excellent B200, but it could be improved.7) A real mixture/engine model, that allows for engine overheating, penalties for running too lean, etc. The engines are just too bulletproof right now.And . . . hookers for the first 1000 customers ;-D

I'd like a basic FMC - Same one for Boeing and Airbus would be ok by me - and I like Staffan's request for cloud shadows. That would be very, very cool.http://www.graphics-free.com/animations/tr...ges/plane_6.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

For me its AI handling and ATC. I would love it if we could get ground movements and ai sequencing to be more accurate. Imagine if we could work with terminal procedures similar to the way we can modify airports with afcad? Or assign different accents to ai aircraft and ATC the same way you can assign airlines to gates in afcad. And for a little, easy fix - make the time FS keep up with my computers time!!!

Better overcast weather affects. I don't give a monkeys about fancy looking clouds, but I hate hate hate the "can't see a thing here...oh now its clear skies...oh back in the fog again...ah clear skies" effect.Improved AI handling, they showed its possible to control the AI via their SDK, so why not?Improved ATC. Not asking for miracles, just for more intelligent handling of "hold short" instructions, take off/SID vectors, and arrival vectors. This shouldn't have any effect on FPS really.Improved dynamics. If you merged x-planes dynamics with FS's looks. You'd have a mean simulator right there.

1. Provide for exclude of flattens and airport elevation.2. Provide sloping flattens for airports (like is currently available for water).3. Provide logic and SDK for AI departure/arrival, to allow per airport settings of runway approach/departure usage.4. Provide SDK with full details of approach programming.5. Address possible end of GMax support.6. Provide better parking assignment for user aircraft on landing.scott s..

I really like the idea of AI following SID's and STAR's ...that really would be mind blowing!SID's n' STAR's bring airport's to life IMHO ...Madeira is nothing w/o it's RWY 05 approach ..imagine AI a/c doing this approach? You would soon have MS spotter's simulator! :-lol...I'd still put useable EPR values first though! :)

> And for a little, easy fix - make the time FS keep up with my computers time!!!Oh yea thats a good one. Two options: keep the hours and minutes the same as the PC time, OR just keep the minutes the same as the PC time.Another annoyance, when switching windows from FS to another program you currently lose sound. That could be fixed too.John.
