December 14, 200520 yr For me, the best improvement that MS could make to the Sim is to introduce a transitional change to the weather between geographic areas. The easiest way for the "magic" of the sim experience to be broken for me is to go from 50 mile visability to one mile (or vice versa) in a microsecond.I understand how it happens with each weather station reporting the weather via the real weather download setup -- but there must be someway that the weather engine can consider the current direction of flight, the current weather at the current location and transition to the weather conditions at the nexy weather station in the direction of travel.EASY -- even my programmer son could do it! :)Barry
December 14, 200520 yr better frames with addon scenery and airplanes! I want to have 100% ai traffic, real weather, addon scenery and flying in the VC of a complicated jet with frames above 20!And to add to the geographic areas, get rid of global textures, I want to be able to see different texture sets for each continent!
December 14, 200520 yr To add to the original poster's issue, the one real annoyance for me and kills the sense of immersion, is climbing out of limited visibility and suddenly the whole world is visible as if flying in a vacuum. I always set visibilty to higher than I'm likely to fly at the beginning to avoid this bug.
December 14, 200520 yr BarryI am going to stick my neck out here and hope that MS do a complete rewrite of the weather engine.FU3 an old programme which was way ahead of its time had proper weather systems and fronts with associated clouds, vis etc.I would like to see real world weather downloaded as global weather systems with isobar and winds, frontal systems and clouds. The whole lot dynamic so that we have a living moving sky.Peter
December 14, 200520 yr We get this thread about once a month...Anyway, my list:-Dangerous weather - in fs2004 the weather looks great, but it doesn't impact flying like it does in real life. I would love to see real danger because of weather (t-storms, icing, severe turbulence, etc).-Sloped runways! - Allow airports to not have to all be the same elevation. -Fix overcast - Make an overcast layer that doesn't impact fps. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
December 14, 200520 yr 1. Ability for FSim to use multi Core/HT and even networked computers for processing power. This way, when I upgrade my computer, I can always use my old one. 2. Ability to add more than two monitors (n monitors) in a networked environment. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 14, 200520 yr more intelligent ATC capable of properly handling more volume than default AIregards,Markhttp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/mar.../sup_banner.jpghttp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/markrey/lsd2.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1GIG/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
December 14, 200520 yr Yes,once a month, on some forums every day.Of course every suggestion I have read are valid. "ME TOO,to all of them"! I say.In the meantime I love my FS9.If, and when a FS10 appears out of nowhere, then I will love that one to. But what I really like is all the improvements that the many talented designers, tinkerers, artists, and in general the talented people who have given us this current version. Often unselfishly, and for the joy of doing it. And it continues. This FS9, has come a long way from that somewhat primitive game we all first got!I may getting be a bit apprehensive about changing. Ya know,A Bird In Hand Is ..... If, and when we get a FS10,these people will have to get right to work, to make it "AS REAL AS IT CAN GET", for one more time. And thats my real wish, that MS gives us an improved, technicaly friendly vehicle for these people to build on. "THE OLE GUY IS IN ORBIT,AND IS ON HIS WAY,HOPE HE HAS A FS10,IN THAT BOTTOMLESS BAG!" VIN!
December 14, 200520 yr The only thing with this attitude of," be greatful for what we have and see what comes and when", is that the people at MS do look into these forums. While the structure and ideas for the next MSFS are still fluid, there is a chance that what is printed here "may" have an influence on the ideas that eventually concrete up for the next version.I am not against people posting their wish lists because, maybe just maybe someone somewhere might think " yes thats a good idea lets incorporate it" :-)So from my angle, a living dynamic weather engine built around moving weather sytems, with highs and lows fronts etc and stunning clouds associated with them ;-)Peter
December 14, 200520 yr The funny thing is that alot of these improvments that keep being mentioned would kill my computer, and most computers out today for that matter. It will always be a balance to keep the sim useable for the most users. If they added all the features requested, their sim would grind to even more of a halt then people are already complaining about. Judging from the forums over the years, it's apprent that you just can't please some people. December 14, 200520 yr >> Dangerous weather - in fs2004 the weather looks great, but it doesn't impact flying like it does in real life. Depends on what you fly, and what the weather is, and your settings. If you set reality on high, and get weather from Internet, it does impact flying. Try flying in Hurricanes, with GA aircraft if you want to have fun. Ive flown into the eye of a Hurricane in a Kingair 350, then spiraled down to sea level... Then spiraled up to gain altitude, coming too close to the wall of the storm. Result, the wind flipped me upside down... Had to regain control upside down, then fly out of the eye upside down.Even had an experience in a 35kt cross wind, landing at Ohare where it did the same, and lost lots of altitude. Pulling up into an outside loop, rolled over at the top, into an inside loop to come down and land on the runway. Practice a Loop on landing, with a cross wind, for a challange. Keep practicing until you can loop and come out lined up with the centerline, with a 5kt cross wind. When you do it, increase wind 5kts at a time, until you can do it at 35kts.
December 14, 200520 yr I was thinking more along the lines of typical thunderstorms. Right now, if you see a line of t-storms, you can fly right through them, and all you will run into is some gusty winds and some turbulence to shake your plane up a bit. In the real world there are much more dangers, such as icing, winds, etc. Real pilots would never casually cruise through a storm. Reality XP made a great weather radar addon which allows us to avoid t-storms. However, there still is no reason that you have to avoid them in the sim. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

I agree with you completely -- that is why I haven't asked for any more "bells and whistles" - nor have I asked for the ability to run everything but at high FPS.The gradual weather transition thing could probably be done within the existing code - and would not affect FPS any more than what we have now.Barry
December 14, 200520 yr The only thing they are looking at ,is their lousy sales of XBOX360 in Japan. The only "weather" they are looking at is "weather" or not if that thing takes off, profitability. The only game their interested in now is "Dead Or Alive4".FS10 is not mentioned anywhere. So say the Washington Post,Tech News. BUT, we can dream, can't we!! VIN
