DA40 - Prop Turns Backwards!

Featured Replies

  • Moderator

I noticed late yesterday that the prop on the DA40 is turning backwards!

To verify: parked, locked spot view looking to the front of the aircraft. Press Ctrl-E and watch props spin backwards. Facing the front, the prop should spin anti-clockwise.

Doesn't anyone actually beta test these aircraft?

Yup, just check it and it definitely is rotating in the wrong direction.

Well if they do, then apparently that error was missed, as the propeller definitely does rotate the wrong way.

Maybe they chopped the DA42 in half and picked the wrong half?

Same applies for the Seneca.

Actually in the Seneca the Left prop rotates CW, and the right prop CCW...

Do you mean that in FSW they also turn opposite ( both rotate to the outside ) ?

No, they are rotating as they should clockwise and counterclockwise.

But they installed the Propeller Blade Set on the wrong positions. They just have to change left vs. right, direction of rotation is ok.

Just out of curiosity, how many single engine aircraft have left turning props? Only one I am aware of is the Sherpa K650T Turbine. Do they make many others?

A large majority of Eastern European types have their props rotate the other way. A lot of European-built choppers have their main rotor go the other way to what is common for US-built helicopters.

Can I just say that I find it funny that a moderator is pinning his own feedback posts to the top of the forum, thereby basically prioritizing his own feedback above those of regular forum users.
