LANDING & TAXI LIGHTS AFFECTING FPS IN V4...even tho DL OFF?

Featured Replies

I'm pretty sure many V4 users are being affected by this in some way or the other especially when using Dynamic Lighting.

The thing is....i'm not using DL & every time I switch on Landing, Taxi or even RWY Turnoff lights i'm getting hammered by fps...UNBELIEVABLE man!

Every flight I did fps went to hell & been pulling my hair out as to why this was happening especially on APP/FINAL (where lights would usually go on).

It's only when I put 2+2 together said wait a min, could ext lights be affecting fps even tho DL was unchecked?

In P3D I have both FXAA & AA set to OFF & None as i have an ASUS 4K Monitor. I also have Texture filtering LOW and Texture Res 1024x1024 just so if someone chimes in and say "Turn Down your MSAA or SSAA".

I'm using PMDG products so don't know if it's PMDG related or not.

Any type of lighting has to be rendered, so it will absolutely have an impact.  How much of an impact depends on ones system and what other demands are being placed on it from without and outside of the simulator.  Some graphics setting changes can make a difference (try the recommended Graphics settings and NVIDIA Inspector settings - Google is your friend here), as can reducing what other software is running.

Best wishes.

hmmm,,,i have a pretty decent PC i74820k @ 4.6ghz, 16GB RAM, GTX 960SSC so should be an issue there.

Never experienced this before in V3 and now I have to make sure I takeoff and land before sunsets as it doesn't affect fps in the least during daytime:angry:

I have a system no where near as good as yours. Lighting does not impact my FR

I thought I read somewhere that the dynamic lighting in the aircraft isn't affected by that checkbox IE aircraft dynamics is diff than the scenery.

Same issue here. Lights on - FPS in the ground.

Seem to remember a post where it was mentioned that if DL is enabled switching off shadows if you are flying at night will improve fps. I appreciate your DL is off perhaps give that a try to see if there is an improvement.
