HELP!!! P3Dv4 not loading

Recommended Posts

Ok.  This one is strange. I was flying in P3D and everything was fine.  Shut it down and came back to it later.  Double clicked on the P3D icon and it starts with the logo.  As soon as UT Live starts it shuts down and goes away completely.  No error messages etc.  The funny thing is when I go into task manager it says it is running.  This is driving me crazy.  I uninstalled and reloaded and I am still having the same issues.  I deleted UT Live and still have the same issue.  Please help.

Thanks.

No UTL, but this happened to me.  When I went into task manager, it was still running, but I

could highlight it - hit "switch to" - and it would come up.

I tried deleting that file and it did not work.  I also went into the task manager and it is running in the background process.  There is no switch to option.   Any other ideas?

Have you recently tried installing RAAS from FS2CREW? Or made any changes to the p3d installation?

I had a problem like this, no idea if it's the same issue ... I installed a new Razor Chroma (programmable keypad) which installs 3 (yes THREE) Windows Services and one startup process.  I unplugged the Razor programmable keypad, disabled the services it installed, and disabled the startup process it installed, and viola P3D V4 running again.

I have a diagnostic process to go thru in my P3D guide, basically disabled both your DLL.XML and EXE.XML files and start P3D, if it works then enabled each entry in the DLL.XML and EXE.XML one by one until and hopefully you'll find the source of the problem.

It could be many other things also, like Simconnect, etc. etc.  my P3D guide will take you thru the process of diagnostics.

Cheers, Rob.

The dll.xml is loaded at startup.  If there is a problem with a module or the dll.xml, it will not startup.  See the AVSIM CTD Guide, page 10, How to Fix Most P3DV4 Crashes and Freezes.  If you own any Carenado product, the CMeteo.dll is a known issue (plus that is the 32 bit version; the 64 bit version is CMeteo64.dll).

Best regards,

Jim

If all this should fail, try deleting 'previous flight.*' from your \users\xxxx\documents\prepar3d v4 files (3 files in total). Also if you know which is your default startup airplane, try deleting these files also. If one of these files gets corrupted, p3d will start and then just disappear - you will only see it in the tastmanager.

Glad to hear you got it fixed.  That's one of the fixes for "Application will not Start" on page 28 of the AVSIM CTD Guide.
