It may be an urban legend but I always

I save my destination flights parked and C&D to some degree so I can start from there if I wish expecting a continuance or return. Each saved flight includes a description of the season, aircraft type, location including gate or ramp. Parking brake is on. For turbo-props condition is at ground idle but in some I can still get a slight creep with power at idle (ground/beta range) with brakes off. For some jets and turbo-props I have read this is normal.Between FS and FSUIPC settings, my controls are fine.

Bill,Im not sure the counting to 3 will do much ;)Any saved flight you make, assuming you originated from the default flight, will follow as if it was the original flight - ie your flight was all working. The real issue is when someone has saved a flight as the default based on a non standard plane where, for example, the battery master is turned off. Even though this flight isnt selected, its state is carried into whatever flight you then create.

Hi Norman,In other words, if I 'save' the Beech A36 at..Teterboro(that I originated from the default flight). Tomorrow I can open FS9, and without having to load the default Cessna, just 'choose' the 'Teterboro' flight, load it and go?Dumb question, eh! I'm a musician!

Bill,That has been my understanding of it and it has served me well thus far.I don't ever set a flight as "default" though, leaving my default as the ones shipped with FS9.

Hi Norman,Thanks for your patience and help on a Sunday afternoon....depending on where you are.:>)

I have a FSD Cheyenne loaded as my default A/C at Pease AFB, cold-n-dark and it have never let me down. I load that A/C dozens of times. I also have the Carenado Cherokee, FSD Aerostar, FSD Navajo and Alphasim B36 all saved as cold-n-dark flights which I can load without problem from the 'Create-a-Flight' screen. But my 'default' flight is the FSD Cheyenne at Pease and it has never given me a problem.

You're a fool.Every piece of software has to have some prerequisites to run.Or are you also going to cry foul that all those addons require FS itself to be loaded? After all, you consider any program that requires anything else to be loaded to be rubbish! In fact, FS itself must be rubbish because it requires Windows to be loaded.

If you save the Teterboro flight as - Previous Flight - and click on default box, it will load ... You then can fly elsewhere, and close the Flight Sim, and the new location will load. It is not necessary to resave the file each time. Even if you load a NEW aircraft, it will automatically save the flight with that one... The reason many have problems is that they save the file, then later decide that they do not want to use that aircraft, and delete the folder. Then the FS will not load due to the error in FS9.cfg, but if you just load FS9.cfg and delete the aircraft from it, then it will load again. The plus is, when saving the file, it also will save all your favorite settings for that aircraft. I always adjust windows, etc and it is a nuisance to have to readjust them each time it is loaded, by loading a defalut aircraft first. Ive been using the FS since the early 80's when Bruce owned it, and in my opinion the MAJORITY of problems come not from the FS, but from inexperience with the computer system maintenence or having a lot of unnecessary files loaded. They hog your memory which the FS needs even if using 512 Ram. My FS is always loaded with FSAUTOSTART to shutdown unneeded applications and programs -first- to give the FS pleanty of room. By doing so, it also gives me a framerate increase of about 10-15 fps... First, I tried shutting down every application which FSautostart recommends. Found a few my system needs for networking, etc, just rebooted which restores all you told it to - STOP & RESTART - then set it to - NO ACTION - fine tuning your own system, gets the FS working on it as well as it possibly can. Ive also developed the habit of running CCLEANER a free program, every time before running the flight sim. It cleans out my registry and garbage left behind by other programs Ive tried and deleted. Since doing that, my system runs better with all software and surfing is faster.

Don't get concerned by jwenting - he provides lots of innocent amusement for the rest of us. After all, according to his last post it would be acceptable to him to have to load a Microsoft default document into Microsoft Word before he could load his own.

In other words, addon aircraft developers don't know enough to be able to initialise their aircraft without relying on a fix.
