April 1, 200620 yr Hi all,The new release of VOZ 1.1 looks wonderful. However, you might want to be cautious about installing it.At the moment, the VOZ 1.1 installation process overwrites a number of your FS9 installation files--without either warning you or providing for a backup. At least that appears to be the case. I suppose that Koorby will be along shortly to explain all this. Best,Mike --Mike MacKuen
April 1, 200620 yr Did you read the readme before installing it?I did and knew what was going to be installed.
April 1, 200620 yr Hi CA7719B,The quick answer is, yes. And I'm delighted that you are happy with VOZ overwriting your files. Good that there is no problem for you.Best,M. --Mike MacKuen

April 1, 200620 yr Relax Relax. The avsim crowd here are knowledgeable and meticulous "backer-upper-ers". It's a fine free product. Use it and love it. If happen to you lose your waves or halo.bmp go get it back off the CD's. But as far as I am concerned it's not to be missed out on. April 1, 200620 yr Yes, there is *one* file we overwrite without mentioning it in the user guide - one file out of 5,728 :)It's the "fx_waves.fx" file in the Effects directory. This is an oversight on our part and I apologize if this has caused people any grief. We will rectify this issue in the 1.2 release. Oh and there is an unintentional bug in the switcher which backs up your FS2004 splash screen but does not restore it when you do an UNVOZ. We are releasing a patch for it shorty, but if this has happened to you your original dlgsplash.bmp is held in the VOZBACKUPUIRES folder.
April 1, 200620 yr Hi Koorby,I just wanted to say I really do like the idea behind the splash screen telling you which set of VOZ textures you have installed... wish the others might hop on this bandwagon cause if you have GE and BEV and VOZ on your computer it's sometimes a little hard to keep track which one you were using last. April 2, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi there,a German user made a VOZ installation into a FS dummy directory and found that the following files are bein overwritten without backup:1. TERRAIN.CFG in FS9 root dirctory2. STARS.DAT in FS9 root directory3. fx_waves.fx in FS9Effects4. fx_swoosh.bmp and in fx_swoosh2.bmp FS9EffectstextureLooks like the wave effect and textures are taken care of. Also, the stars.dat seems to be the freeware version that improves on the density of stars at night. However, overwriting the terrain.cfg without backup, if this is indeed happening, is a big blunder. There are probably quite a few people out there who have made personal edits to the terrain.cfg and I know of at least one payware program that makes changes to terrain.cfg as well. Please look into that, John!Cheers, Holger
April 2, 200620 yr hihow do i uninstall VOZ competely? even take out that first screen which shows the VOZ Switcher?rgds I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
April 2, 200620 yr UNVOZ, then disable the 3 entries in your scenery library. Your original splash screen has been backed up in the VOZBACKUPUIRES folder.
