Rick Piper's Hawker Siddeley HS.748 RELEASED!

Featured Replies

Hi,What a grand aircraft, and at a great price, just about perfect. Jumped in the cockpit, and thought I had been there all my life. Thanks Mr. Piper. Question No. one. How come none of the landing gear are painted/detailed? Number two, I have a Percision Flight Controls Jetliner column, sitting in front of a 23 inch flat panel monitor, and I don't need the column in the VC cockpit. In fact it is very distracting with two columns. Is there any way to get rid of it. Thanks.Bob..... in sunny Florida

I think Mr. Piper might be quicker to reply in the official support thread over here:http://cbfsim.org/cbfsimv5/cbfsbb/viewtopi...der=asc&start=0As for the landing gear lacking paint, I have to say I haven't noticed that myself:http://www.puonti.net/stuff/748_gear.jpgLooking good there. Also, does your VC have textures like the ones you can see here:http://www.puonti.net/stuff/748_vc.jpgIf not, I suspect you have not installed the "generic" textures correctly. These are textures that are the same for every repaint of the 748, and they go into your MAIN texture directory (flight simulator/texture/). The EXE installers correctly copy these textures where they belong, but if you chose to install to a temporary directory and then move the files manually into your FS9 installation dir, you probably forgot the generic textures.Once those are in the right place, you'll see details like gear and VC textures.

Hi,You are correct sir. I did a manual install, and the generic textures are in the wrong place. Thanks you very much. I will also try Mr. Piper direct regarding the VC. Thanks againBob

No problem, glad to be of help :) It's a great plane!

I don't normally like to extend already long threads, but I have to say that this is one AMAZING airplane. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Products like this make me happy to spend the 100's of hours I spend developing freeware scenery. Thanks again, Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

Hi Jean-Paul, my card is an ATI Radeon 9600 and I noticed the problem at night, looking down the city lights. I tried turning off the lights but no way. Anyway, I have 1GB RAM, and it happens to me exactly like you, that is when I pause the sim with ALT, the ground textures become sharp again.I thought 1 Gb should have been sufficient for all FS2004 memory needs...I'll try to have an opinion from the support forum (as soon as the Administrator will give me the registration...)thanksFrancesco

Hi GuysStrange .Why didn't you use the installers ????.The people having the problems are the ones that did not use the installers.they are there so that they can be installed properly.I cannot remove the other control column.why on earth would you want to do that?.both columns are in the real cockpit and they both move at the same time. Please use the support forum i set up guys as i can't chase round the internet for problems.I would hide my e mail address if i didn't want to help.the other worrying thing is.Even after carefully writing each file title File 1 of 3 , 2 of 3 etc there are 3000 people that have no textures at all and will not be able to select the aircraft.I have asked Avsim to correct it but they have done nothing and still have 2 of the rquired 3 files in the wrong section.I honestly can't make it any more simple.apart from getting on a 747 and coming over to install it for you ;o)RegardsRick

Hi Janneyour not going to fly far with both propellers feathered and your alternators switched off.A yellow lamp in a Hawker siddeley Aircraft is a warning. ;o)Edit: yes i missed out the fuel cocks in the checklist and will correct it in a later update. The panel manual's pdf file should be correct. It seems everyone that has an Audigy soundcard are the ones with the blurries problem too ???? please note that this model does not like you using "L" to switch on all lights as some gauges are linked in the panel and is a good chance that is what is causding the blurries. All the lights have their own switches & if you press "L" you can see problems.I'm pretty sure that is mentioned in the readfirst.txt that you didn't read RegardsRick

After I installed the base package I see the folder FSDS3 HS.748 under aircrafts in my FS9 folder. But when I load FS9, and try to select the aircraft its not on the list.Hmmm....NEVERMIND:... I need the texture pack1 as well.Manny

Hi MannyFiles are marked 1 of 3 , 2 of 3 etc.Download texture pack 1 & Texture pack 2 if you want to be able to fly.I split the file into 3 parts for dialup model users.Ideally you need all 3 files.Avsim file guys have ignored my request not to put the parts in different sections :((RegardsRick

No such problems for me, but then i used the installers.Rick, i usually at least get as far as touch down on my first test flight before making any comment, but i just HAD to pause the flight so i could say.... thank you O Great Master! One of the finest freeware aircraft i can ever recall.I love it. Thank you!

i wish my problems could be fixed by using the installer... but Rick is a great guy and is helping me via email with the issues. looks like, for one, I have to get a new sound card!!

This plane is excellent, believe me...and very easy on the FPS...:-)now, if only I could configure it so both engines wouldn't stall on me at FL180... back to the manual....
