May 24, 200620 yr If you want to try and simulate the fly-by-wire element I suggest you search the Avsim File Library for easyFBW. This cool little utility simulates the basic of Airbus Normal Law and works with any aircraft, albeit without protections modelled. Well worth a look! ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
May 24, 200620 yr Alpha floor protection worked in the PSS busses in FS2002 (at least partially, I don't know enough about the details of the system to know whether it was fully operational).I think I've seen it in action in FS9 as well, though I don't fly the PSS busses a lot anymore (last time I touched them was over a year ago, more into 727s and C-47s at the moment).FWB isn't completely modelled, true, but it's still pretty darn nice. And I'd postulate that the vast majority of the people claiming it's no good because it doesn't do something specific have no clue what they're talking about. Only people type rated on the 320 series can make such claims, and I don't hear them shouting...
May 24, 200620 yr Ever heard of personal preference? To me the PMDG 737 is one of the best 737 currently on the market, which I think is a sad situation for people claiming to approach perfection because it's far from perfect. That said it's good enough for me as a hobby, but it's certainly far short of the feel and systems simulation of a real aircraft (which I've never flown from the front seat, but seen and read enough about to have some idea of what it would be like).I don't have the PSS 777, but I'd not hessitate to purchase it were I looking for a big modern Boeing at this time.Based on their track record I can surmise that it would satisfy my requirements.I don't need hyperdetailed exteriors, or any "virtual cabin" at all, or oxygen masks that drop down when you loose cabin pressure (in fact I don't care for pressurisation systems much either).
May 24, 200620 yr Maybe someone mentioned this already, but if you want to get the PSS airbusses to work properly, you will need to change their respective lift_scalar values. Type "scalar" into the search engine over at the PSS forum and you'll get the fixes.ricardo
May 24, 200620 yr Much as I now love a good vc I agree. Thanks to LDS, PMDG, PSS, load the gps and go is just not enough for me anymore, especially if you're going several thousand nm. PSS mcdu, fcu, autothrust modes, autotrim etc is still by FAR the best modern Airbus cockpit representation to this day.I eagerly anticipate next year's offerings, particularly PMDG'sregards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
May 24, 200620 yr You'll need to set correct takeoff trim you mean...In the FS2002 version that was not needed (unlike in the real aircraft) because it was a lot more forgiving for incorrect values), in the FS9 version you must set it correctly.
May 24, 200620 yr No, the LIFT SCALAR VALUES. See this thread:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchAnd type in lift scalar in the search box for more information.ricardo
May 25, 200620 yr To stay on topic, The PSSA320 is my staple food with the PMDG737. I do 90% of my flying in these. The bus is simply great, especially when you put in one of Steven Persson's CFM soundsets. May 25, 200620 yr There are also some very good IAE v2500 soundsets as well here at avsim. With these soundsets, the iFDG model and flight dynamics and the PSS panel (with the Rob Barendregt pushback and taxi gauge) you have what I consider to be the best Airbus combination.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual [email protected]http://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

None of them have flown an Airbus in their life!Terblanche Jordaan used an A320 full-motion simulator and had this to say: "We took off and again I was amazed by the realism that PSS created in their aircraft and panels. Everything works exactly as the real thing; except obviously the feeling of the aircraft in motion." (quote from www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/special/737.htm ). Terblanche had nothing to gain by saying this! Please read the following Avsim forum message, which I archived some time ago. The pictures are missing, but the words are more important :) :-"Hello Everybody! My name is Paulo Marcelo Soares, and currently I fly as A-330-200 First Officer for TAM Airlines, in Brazil. It was with great enthusiasm that I purchased the A-330 pack from PSS. The download and installation procedures were surprisingly uneventful. I had the opportunity top make some flights and would like to post some comments. I couldn Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
May 25, 200620 yr Here's a comment by a bus driver I met."As a 32X Rated Pilot that PSS is #### Good!" regardsEd My FS9 Videoshttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/edetroit100/holy.gifAMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1024Mb PC3200 DDR, 300Gb HD 256Mb DDR Nvidia 7800 GTX PCI-E, Audigy 2 ZSCH Products Yoke, Pedals and Throttle Quadrant My FS Videos
May 25, 200620 yr I disagree, I think it says a lot of PSS to be on the same map as PMDG's offerings. Anyways, not really fair to compare the 737 to a 777. Maybe it is more fair to judge against other 777's. With this list I emphasize complete packages. This is not about which has the best model. Some of these come with no panel or are simplified systems wise but no other (that I know of) is available.Modern jet airliners currently availableBest 717 -------------- Jet City (have not tried The Vans Aircraft Co)Best 737 -------------- PMDG (Haven't tried Ariane, too pricy)Best 747 -------------- PMDGBest 757 -------------- POSKY (Will not try Captain Sim unless complete package is offered, no blocks)Best 767 -------------- Level DBest 777 -------------- PSSBest MD11-------------- IFDG (but PMDG making one)Best MD80 series------- I like the Lago Mad Dog, havent tried the rest.Best Airbus A320------- PSSBest Airbus A330------- PSSBest Airbus A340-200/300 PSSBest Airbus A340-500/600 CLS (I know, simple systems, but no other choice)Best ERJ--------------- FeelthereBest CRJ--------------- FeelthereBest Embaer 170-------- Dreamwings (we need one of these with systems)If I missed one please post it.Regards, Carlos
