PMDG Airbus and playing catch-up..

Featured Replies

I've been away for some months, and to tell you the truth had almost given up with FS.Today I logged on to AVSIM for the first time for ages, read a few posts and WOW - news of a proper Airbus at last..It's persuaded me to get FSX after all.But it is strange when you come back after a long-ish absence and everyone's talking about things you've never heard of.It's a fast moving world this flight-simming..:-) Ian

That it is Ian - but taking a break can indeed be a very good thing - keeps it fresher I find.Very much looking forward to seeing what the various A320 offerings (PMDG, Peter Wilding's X320 project and another I forget now) will bring. edit - the third is Wilco/Feelthere's new Airbus packages.regards,MarkXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256

The third one is Wilco / Feelthere who, additionally, announced a whole series of Buses in one release (A319, 320, 321, 330, 340)! Three competing projects - why not? The more competition, the better final results! ;-) Yum...Best regards,Rafal

I personally think that PMDG will kick some serious butt there! :)

It does look really, really good!

Well as a A320 driver i'd realy like to know what is so top secret people need to know about the 320 to simulate it.ALl the info on the systems is widely available as is a lot of info on the engines.WHat part of this Airbus story is top secret??I have a full system manual which has everything you would ever need to know including all ECAM and ECAM actions.InterestingDarren

Thanks for clarifying this, Darren.I think this is just a rumour/hearsay that is floating around and everybody is simply copying it.The more often I heard it, the less I believed it.Now really looking forward for a real Airbus. I had a lot of fun with the 32* PSS Airbus family, but that was a long time ago.Alex

Total speculation here - but unless changes have occurred at Airbus perhaps it is indeed still true that a PMDG cannot work as closely with Airbus itself as they do with the Boeing Co.But as Darren has said all the info for a complete simulation is in fact more easily sourced than rumoured - any number of pilots and engineers have said as much and even volunteered their 'stuff'.In any case if a 'sweat the details' :) Co like PMDG is happy enough then obviously SOMETHING good has happened.regards,MarkXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256

But then at the same time it is very strange that noone has developed a high end Airbus system for FS. That initself has to depend on something. To me the main reason is that Airbus is not that co operative in "helping" FS developers in giving the information needed. That is why I don

Maybe what they are hinting at is the performance data for each engine type is not freely available. E.g. fuel consumption, cost index, rate of climb at various weights etc. I get the impression that this is what Boeing volunteers but Airbus doesn't.Willing to be corrected.

HI StaffanMy personal opinion is that the reason no one has done a decent 320 is that is has been beyond most companies. The PSS one was a fair effort of normal ops in the aircraft but was still far from showing why the Bus is just so different fro a Boeing.WIth ECAMS driven off switch positions its far more complex to simulate emergencies than the 767 ever was.The 76 is a relatively steam driven machine and with little interaction between crew and aircraft in problem situations compared to an airbus. The flight protections are difficult to simulate as are the auto trim and even the normal turn on the aircraft which maintains current ROC or ROD as bank is increased up to 33 degrees. Its just not easy to simulate how advanced the 320 is and the only aircraft which is more advanced at the moment is the 717 which borrowed a lot of idea's from the MD11 and Airbus family.Given how well PMDG have been going with the 744 etc they will give it a good shake i'd imagine!!CheersDarren

Nonsense! You can find all that info in the internet or even at the manufacture site www.airbus.com! seek and you shall find! there's lot of PDF's & PPS about itAlso go for a google search about those subjects.RegardsALG
