May 17, 200620 yr Which sim aircraft has a good flight model in your opinion?I don't mean eye candy, I don't mean avionics, VC, or overal the best or systems etc...I mean for the basic hand flying an aircraft and landing them. Which in your opinion is the best or most fun?IMO..For GA it is1. real air's Decathlon and their Spitfire (I know for real the decathlon is as real as it gets)For airliner type it is (Don't know if its real..but I think it is...because if you don't configure it properly. The speed and everything, it bites like I expect it to)1. Captain sim's 7272. PMDG 747 (yes... I hand fly this too sometimes)MannySince I don't own all the payware, I am really looking for similar challenging aircrafts. Challenging in the sense not bad flight model..Difficult yet logical. In other words... fun for hand flying. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 17, 200620 yr 1. HJG 707, tweaked by yours truly.2. Milton's Dash 7 -- in fact, ANYTHING by Milton, waaahhh! 3. Level D 7674. PMDG NG series5. PMDG 747-4006. Almost anything by David Maltby. Gotta love his VC-10.7. Captain Sim's 727 (despite the fact that it was trashed by many after the launch of the DF 727 when it suddenly became "unflyable".)8. F1 Cessna 172 (superb!)JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 17, 200620 yr Milton's Aero Commander 500 is my all time favorite. That is about the most realistic plane I have ever flown in FS. I flew them in r/w, and I feel at home flying his.Don
May 17, 200620 yr Most fun ever: Realair SpitfireBest GA single: Dreamfleet A-36Best Airliner: PMDG 747 (The Level D 767 is just too visually crude, even with the great flight model it has)
May 17, 200620 yr Top aircraft for me are the Project Fokker 70/100 (First class flight dynamics) and the David Maltby VC10(excellent panel and properly constructed flight dynamics)
May 17, 200620 yr For me it has to be the MAAMSIM Dakota, that just so feels the way it looks IRL, dunno whether that's right or if you get what I'm saying, it just somehow 'feels' right. It's a sweetheart to fly by hand and having never managed to work out the AP that's the only way I fly her.

I thought I was the only one who prefered the CS727.Regards, Carlos
May 17, 200620 yr Most fun to land....The RealAir Spitfire! It's a matter of getting those power settings just right, to avoid the bounce! This plane has an excellent sense of throttle versus weight throughout the landing process.L.Adamson
May 17, 200620 yr Commercial Member Some interesting opinions appearing here.It might be worth noting that most developers actually aim to produce realistic flight models, not ones that are "best" or "most fun" as that's not really the objective is it?Maybe a more relevant topic would have been "Which sim aircraft have the most accurate flight model, in your opinion?" and maybe even ask users to qualify their answer with something like "the F1 C172 feels almost the same as the real C172 I was flying yesterday afternon"Still, a fun thread nonetheless ;-)Greatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg Cheers Paul Golding
May 17, 200620 yr Carlos,Have you tried Daisuke's F/A 18E Hornets? http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/f18.htmYeah..I completely forgot about this one and the Turbo Props.Turbo Props. - The King Air B200 by Aeroworx (this is not all that easy. It could get away from you too)- Flight1's ATR.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

It would be terribly unfair to NOT favor a plane when a developer had faithfully produced a docile aircraft. On the other hand if he/she had fudged it and made it challenging, it may be fun and thats not fair. I think we need to add a qualification to each preference (most Fun and/or Most realistic) If Realistc was the criteria my list would change dramatically. (Obviously it would be very short too)1. F1 Cessna-1722. Real Air's Decathlon3. Dream Fleets Piper Archer Thats it I can speak about. I suspect the aeroworx King air is very realistic too..atleast from some of the Twins that I have flown. When you come in to land, the way it loses altitide when you are slow is very very convincing. I have this favorable bias towards aircrafts that loses altitide real fast when you are slow. I have never flown an aircraft that does not do that...except for a Cessna 172 or a 152.I would love to hear from real world Pilots what they think of the various flight sim aircrafts.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 17, 200620 yr After learning to fly and mastering Cloud-9'S f-104,all the above seem docile and unchallenging. Some others that just feel right are the CS C-130 and the Dreamfleet 727. They have dialed in that just right feeling of inertia which alot of others do not have. But to truly explore a planes flight modelling, get away from those space shuttle lenght runways. I mean anyone can land on a 11000 footer.I like to try and shoe horn my planes into strips that are a little on the short side. Having to drag em in all dirtied up and carrier land it,then stand on the brakes till your face is in the windsheild is how I wring them out.

I like landing the PMDG 747 at Laguardia (Its not the shortest..but its up there I think).I like landing the Aeroworx King air at the small grass strip about 1/2 mile prior to reacing Aspen Co airport. Its got trees on the approach ..so you have to do a short field landing. Its a lot of fun.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
