June 13, 200619 yr Having not been able to fix my problems with autogen etc., I decided I would do a clean install of FS2004. After 3 years of tweaking, rebuilding this thing is going to be arduous at best. Some stuff I can cleanly copy over, but others its harder.I need a quick update on how and where to do a few things.1. Aircraft callsigns. Is there one master file I can import as vcpmod that contains most of the major airlines? Especially US airlines (where I fly mostly.) Editvoicepack is gonna be a pain.2. Whats everybodys opinion on best freeware sky/clouds addon? 3. Same goes with water.ThanksEric AND
June 13, 200619 yr > Editvoicepack is gonna be a pain.Hi Eric,I'm going thru the same process and it is a pain. I'm going slowly and attempting to keep things organized this time. I don't understand your reluctance to install Editvoicepack; it just took a few minutes to do the standard config to add the FS9 missing callsigns and to accelerate the speech delivery system. It is well worth it. R-PS -- I use Chris Willis' clouds but have not decided on a water package yet (just staying inland for the time being). R-
June 13, 200619 yr Author Sorry if I miscommunicated. I have editvoicepack. I have no problem using it. I just was hoping there was some large vcpmod file that contained all the airline names that I could compile using it. Been awhile since I had to use it. My previous install was very stable for 3 years and got "very highly modified"...to say the least. Recreating all that will be a month long chore.Eric AND
June 13, 200619 yr Eric,For the sky use Blue Sky V2.0 which will be available here in the library real soon.Regards,Alexhttp://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2852/sig6or.jpg
June 13, 200619 yr The automated update of EVP should bring the callsigns and airports, etc up to date very easily and quickly. That automatic update is the master file. But I always keep a separate folder of any manual EVP additions - which might be an idea too late for you.
June 13, 200619 yr Author seems like the http://editvoicepack.com website must be down. Automatic update does not work. Eric AND
June 13, 200619 yr Lars maintains it on a server in his home.Summer is often a very busy time for him.Give it a couple weeks, it's certainly easier to wait for him to return home and get it back up than to do all that work manually.
June 13, 200619 yr Author I got it. no problem.Meantime, whats the concensus on best sky textures and best water?Eric AND
June 13, 200619 yr I think I am using a water package called Perfect Water, which I have found to be the best I've tried so far. I think I found it here. I _Think_ it was Perfect Water, but I make too many mods and try too many things out to remember exactly what I have installed, which is kind of bad.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 14, 200619 yr Ed Truthans water textures. Search for those. I think I also have bits and peices from waterzone I think its called. I actually think the default sky is better than any mods I have seen. I have a replacement water ripple though and I like that, not sure what it is at the moment. Bart Dalkewiecz (spelling?) reduced clouds are really decent here and help on frames. I like John Cillis's soft horizons mod, much more realistic looking for me.Hornit
June 14, 200619 yr waterzone.zipIt's Ed Truthans and a few other folks stuff, best ones I have tried for water.Hornit
June 14, 200619 yr >Meantime, whats the concensus on best sky textures and best>water? If you want to go payware, Flight Environment (water, sky and clouds) is a great package and it gives you lots of choices. With Active Sky 6, it is the best I have seen.http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=fe2004 MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad

June 15, 200619 yr Author Thanks guys.I am pretty happy with the default sky, but am gonna replace the clouds. I dont like those tools that give all these crazy options on install. I'll just pick one and be happy.Ed, thanks on the water textures. I'll grab those. I dont use water reflections in order to keep the PC frames up on this old PC here!Eric AND
