Updated to Windows 10 April 2018 Update - All Is Well

Recommended Posts

Just a quick PSA.  I updated to Windows 10 April 2018 Update (v1803) today and P3Dv4.2 and all addons are working as advertised.  No issues at all.  Did an image backup of my C-drive beforehand just in case.  Update went very smooth.  Not suggesting folks do this, just wanted to pass along that in my case, there were zero issues (PC specs below).

P3D does not have "Full Screen" per se, so wierd it locks up. Try deleting your P3D.cfg and let it rebuild a new one.

Thanks Doug--appreciate the intel report.

I, for one, always wait a few weeks minimum after a big Windows update like this hits the streets (while keeping my ear to the ground for signs of trouble), and now I *always* do a complete system backup before removing the anti-update locks from my system.

Regards

Knocking on wood for this one but for many many years of computers as a hobby and work I have not had bad luck updating Windows. I make sure all my drivers and other applications are updated to current versions before updating that could be the reason.

1803 update did re-enable my additional audio devices, if you have multiple audio devices enabled and the FSLabs A320 then you'll get a black P3D screen with eventual CTD.  So for those with multiple audio devices and FSLabs, be sure to "disable" the audio devices you don't need before running P3D V4.x

Other than that, all seems good with 1803.

Cheers, Rob.

I had the same problem as above, black screen when I started p3dv4 and a sometimes a CTD and nothing more, either no sound in the pc, I reinstalled the sound driver and all works again as should be.

I recommend too to go to the privacy page, and disable all as possible as you want, even they have keyloggers apparently if you permit that, it was very surprising for me, like W10 was now a big adware or malware...

May I ask what image software people use to backup the p3d install?  I mean I'm almost to the point where I have everything perfectly installed, wouldn't mind have a system image of all this.
