Legacy by Wilco

Recommended Posts

We don't post a "press release" when we have not been sent one. We just got in a press release from Wilco and have just posted it. If we don't get a press release, we won't fabricate stuff.

Avsim, the same as the other sites, will post what the developers or distributors send them... As I've seen very little press coverage of the Legacy anywhere, my guess is that Wilco never sent out a press release! :-hahIan P.

Hi,I have a question - the weather radar that, as I understand, is installed in the cockpit, displays real out-of-the-window FS weather or just draws a generic pattern on the ND? (the kind that picks up level 5 storms in perfectly clear skies :-) )Thank youregards,Spiros HazapisAthens, Greece

You're proberly right about the Legacy being the really good aircraft. But being that fellthere use wilco to publish there products, I won't be spending my $$$ on it or anything else that Wilco has to do with. That company really sucks and I don't know why Feelthere, who makes great AC, deal with them.Bill M

Hi there, for what it's worth, here's my 2 cents ;-)I won't comment on the publisher as I'm in that business myself. Honestly I really like this AC alot. I've never flown a real legacy as I only fly the 'little' ones IRL, however the handling just feels right. She's steady during takeoff roll (where FT's 145 is a bit shaky) cruise and landing. I like handflying in FS and this FDE very much supports that action.I personally prefer a good FDE over eyecandy but this one has both. The VC is stunning and gauge fluidity is incredible (all of this is adjustable in a handy config tool that comes with it).I'd say go for it but wait until the first patch is released to fix issues with WX radar, flightplan importing and some other minor things.Cheers,Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifAMD64-3400,1GB/3200DDRAM,WinXP(SP2),DirectX9.0c,Geforce6800(128MB)(Det.84.21), CH Yoke/Pedals

Your loss really! the purchase from Wilco went without any problems, and when it comes to forum, Feelthere has its own.As for the aircraft, it's amazing. If feels good to fly, and with the complicated systems and stunning VC it's by far the best Business Jet ever made for FS9! The VC is the best I've seen so far in FS, the gauges runs as smooth as your computer is up to (only two VC Windows, so please no more excuses about this being only possible with simple steam gauges). The clarity of every lables and text in the VC, MFDs included, is unbelievable if you chose "Clear Type" in the config tool.Eagle

The Goaround button on the left throttle lever moves with the right throttle lever.Someone who's regiestered on their forum please pass this bug to the folks of Feelthere. Also someone please mention to them that no one is able to register on their forum as new users. I have some observations I'd like to post there so they get fixed in the SP1.Thanks!Jason

I took a look at all the screen shots and as far as I can tell it looks exactly the same as the ERJ 145 PIC; just dressed up with a attendent and a new interior. I had a real problem with the ERJ's FDE where it would do the "falling leaf" syndrome on approach when hand flying. Usually is an indication that all is not right in MOI's, CG, etc. Is this version different? Has anyone hand flown an approach? This really does look like just an upgrade of the ERJ. Mike

Has anyone hand flown an>approach? This really does look like just an upgrade of the>ERJ.>> Mike>I own both products. Indeed the Legacy cockpit "looks" similar to the ERJ145 (as is true in the real aircraft), but there have been many enhancements in the new ship. The flight model is considerably improved. I've done quite a bit of hand-flying of the Legacy so far, and its performance is very stable and smooth in all flight phases: takeoff, cruise, descent and landing. The (real) Legacy has several additional fuel tanks which almost double its range compared to the ERJ. These are faithfully re-created in the sim, with additional fuel controls and crossfeed/transfer logic. The Legacy has more powerful engines, and a higher service ceiling (41,000 feet). The new model includes an IRS, (with realistic alignment times), and the functionality of the FMS has been expanded and enhanced over the ERJ.The Legacy includes an integrated version of the payware WXR2100 weather radar. Many improvements in the VC, and overall FPS and general smoothness are very good indeed. There are a few bugs, but no "show-stoppers", and it appears that the developer is acting quickly to resolve them.Jim Barrett

There is a maint. tech who works on the FMS in real life that posted on the feelthere forums that they have reproduced it with 95% functionality...pretty good in my book. I am going to buy it after the SP gets released for it. The only big negative I have with it is that the HUD is for 2D only, not available in VC.
