Any good Landclass for North America/U.S?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, is there any good Landclass for P3D V4 U.S/ North America? I am searching for any other land class other than Orbx's outrageous $42 land class add-on. I refuse to buy overpriced addons just because "It's Orbx

Are there any others that you guys use and enjoy that is realistic?

Either wait for Orbx OpenLC NA to go on sale or you could try Ground Environment X from Flight 1 (they also have a 30 day refund policy).  Personally, I prefer the Orbx product.

Edit to add:  Strike that.  My mistake.  GEX seems similar to Orbx Global.  Texture replacement packs.....not landclass.

Agree with Bert, besides did you note that the price is in AU$?  Current rate is 1AU=0.75USD ergo price is 31.50USD or the price of one quality airport.  Let's also remember that the Orbx openLC technology overcomes the FS limitation of only allowing about 256 landclass tiles to coverf the entire earth.... openLC removes that limitation and allows the use of a very large number of tiles.  This translates into much less of a repetitive pattern as seen from the air.

Finally, come on man this is already one of the cheapest hobbies a man can have.  Even bowling is more expensive.

According to their website it's $54.95 AUD which is about $41 and some change... and I missing something?

UTX is like a combo of LC and Vector but with a lot less detail and less coverage. You would also need UTX USA, Canada and Tropical America Tropical America and Caribbean to cover almost what ORBX NA LC provides (it also covers Alaska and Central America)

Yes. I have all those UTX areas  and am pretty happy with the appearance and the FPS too. Just wondering what the difference was.

In a word, yes. The visual difference is astounding - especially if you have been using default land class up until now. Much more variety, instead of endless repeating textures (especially in the Midwest). Plus, the current product also provides landclass for Canada (which used to be a separate product), as well as Mexico.

One caveat: The Orbx NA LC looks best if you also have the Orbx Global textures - which is a separate product...

Note that you also need to buy Orbx Global Base for 100 AU$ in addition to OpenLC US to enjoy ORBX landclass.

If you are not willing to go with ORBX, I highly recommend Cloud9 XClass US, which I had used prior to ORBX. They are relatively precise in my opinion. It was designed for FSX, but it also works with P3D. At $10, it's also reasonably inexpensive. Here is the link:
