So I bought the ORBX land class this morning, and I am not very impressed at all. The same issue that has plagued ORBX scenery since the beginning, the Midwest (Denver area) is TOO GREEN.

Never again will I make this mistake.. uhh.

is p3d set to summer or spring? it's difficult to get every region exactly right. You should post on the Orbx forums asking them to change the colors.

This issue has plagued ORBX scenery since the beginning, Denver area always looks like a tropical rainforest. Many people have complained about this and posting on the forums is useless they just ignore it.

My UTX looks much more realistic in that area.

It's not just the Denver area.   In my opinion most of the USA is far too green, especially in winter.

Orbx DID change the Grand Canyon area, to be less green.  So there's always hope.

So is this a Landclass issue or a FTX Global Issue?? Why has ORBX refused to address the inaccuracy... they must like the Brazil tropical Look

I just took a quick flight around Denver with Orbx OpenLC NA.

With today's date May 5th, it looked like the first picture, everything very green. But when I selected Summer in the Time and Season screen, P3Dv4 picked June 21st, and the colors looked pretty much the same as the second picture, about 1 green field to 3 brown ones, that kind of ratio. Still too green in my opinion. I couldn't see any further texture change if I advance through to August

It’s the primarily the FTX Global textures, though the LC does control which textures appear in which locations.

Interesting find. I also just did this and can confirm the textures in the summer are much better and accurate.

Why in the spring does it look like a rain forest??

I posted this on the Orbx forums and made a request for the to change it so here it goes: https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/154009-ftx-openlc-na-midwest-too-green/

You’ll have to realize that global texture replacement products and landclass products are never going to be perfect for every area. If you want it closer to perfect you’ll need photoscenery, however that is also not perfect because it often only covers one season (MegaSceneryEarth). That being said, you could always make your own photoscenery and then color correct it for each season. The down side is that it’s time consuming and takes a lot of disk space, but it will be as close to perfect as you can make it.

With sims there’s always going to be something that isn’t perfect but after a while you’ll have to either learn to live with it and not obsess over it or you’ll never be happy.

Because none of the Orbx developers working on Open LC NA ever lived in Denver?  :)

More seriously I suppose because it's a big continent with umpteen hundred weather regions. I guess at some point you have to draw the line at the number of man hours required to get perfectly correct continent wide detail versus the final purchase price you can reasonably charge your customers, and release the product.

For all it's flaws, I still think it's the best general NA landclass coverage available. But it can certainly be improved. Hopefully Orbx will note your request, and add it to the to-do list.

It's not one or two or three areas.  The entire North America texture pack could stand to be less green in the soft winter/hard winter seasons in particular.

It's because the notion of a 'season' is s simplification. P3D gives you five seasons, which means five alternative texture sets. So there have to be some compromises, particularly when the palette of possible texture tiles to cover the whole world is also limited. If P3D allowed 52 texture sets we'd have a more finely-graded seasonal variation, or 365 textures sets to take it to a logical extreme. Even then it's going to be a generalisation, because season isn't the only variable.
