Exactly. You may request TD at any point of time, however PATC woud take into account overall descent profile and may "decrease" your descend rate by delaying new FLs

Hmmm...perhaps I should revisit RC forum for the instructions how to install into P3Dv4. In my opinion, RC vectoring alone is still top notch after all these years.

If I remember correctly, I had to set the 737 NGX to about 1200 FPM to get it to work properly. Just trial and error.

Thanks Bob, I'm sure this is the problem I've just opened it up and it says

737-800

Descent rate below FL 100 =1500

Descent rate below FL 240=3500

Descent rate above FL 240=800 <<<<<<<800 !!!!!!

It's the same for the A319

but, Descent rate above FL 240=1000<<<<<1000 lol

Think I will try 1200-1500 for both.

I assume that old receipts and codes from 2006 still work for re-authorization? Honestly, I forgot how the routine works for RC4 🙂 I'll try to reinstall it over coming weekend

It might be an idea to use a known route to tweak the settings. Around 20 years ago I flew EGCC-EGLL on a BA 757. It climbed up to FL210, stayed there for a couple of minutes before starting the descent. BNN at FL70 followed by ATC guidance down to 3500 over Canary Wharf before the big right turn for a 27 approach.

That was the ideal FL for the short hop. Given the A320 and 737-800 are similar in performance the profile should be similar.

You may need the update to v4.3. If so, check the many posts on the RC Forum for Doug Thompson’s email address. He’ll provide the link.

Then install, get your registration code and send it in an email to the relevant address for your product code. It will help if you use the same email address as when you bought it.

Nevertheless, you've been given the correct answers.  The aircraft descent parameters in the aircraft database for the 737 which I use do look odd although the developers swear they come from a professional source.  They do tend to produce an early TOD for me compared to the PMDG FMC so you may need to tweak them.  There is the question of whether both sources have a STAR and runway set up at the relevant time.  It makes a lot of difference to the length of a short flight if you are having to go right around to the far side of your destination and approach from the other end.  In the case of Pro-ATC leaving the TOD too late for your liking, you can request one manually.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the Pro-ATC aircraft database may be overwritten when the software is updated.  There has recently been a significant update (May, to 1.9.2.5) and further updates can be expected.  Keep a note or screen capture of the settings you like and check they are still there after an update.
