777X new boeing plane

Featured Replies

Like I would never fly a southwest or Ryanair 747-8 from SYD to MEL.. That too from runway to runway, which is how my poor dad flies.. 😁  He just can't do a gate to gate flight, or learn proper procedures.. But I'm at least glad we share the same hobby..

I, for instance, don't have an issue with flying a 777-200LR, when an 777-200ER is supposed to fly the route, flying an 747-400, when an 747-8i is required or flying 737-800, when a 8 MAX is needed.

To be honest, I have a hard time, wrapping my head around that kind if nitpicking.

Quite simple if you're somebody who takes screenshots. Anyone who's seen my 777-200ER knows that I'm flying around with the PW4084, so it would be a little unusual if the very same plane was suddenly flying around with GE90s and raked wingtips.

I guess some of you guys would probably cringe at my short haul 747-400 and 777-200LR flights between various UK airports then?

I think my average flight time in the 747-400 is around 1:30 😉

Haha.. While there are some real world widebody flights that are less than 2 hrs, I normally fly 8-9 hr long hauls.. But I do fly with auto cruise, so that's cheating a bit.. I consider myself hardcore simmer, but I delegate the radios and ATC stuff to my FO..  Unless you are doing shared cockpit, no point in doing both PF and Pm activities all by yourself..

I understand what you mean, but I kinda endorse this policy. Although not in the extreme strictest sense, that some fanatics in here are practicing...

Heck, I'll fly a 737-800 on route a Cessna is supposed to fly! It's fun. Try it. It's just a simulator. 🙂

I was on a 767 from Frankfurt to London once. Talk about wide-body short haul.

You can see my long haul tutorial and many short haul flights in North America on my YouTube channel.😉

Always happy for feedback, particularly on each video.

I use the PMDG 737-600 for vfr / patterns whenever I see someone having a tower controller rating checkout on VATSim.

In all honesty, the 737-600 is a very impressive little thing.

The 737-600 is probably my favourite version of the NGX. Since I don't carry passengers on my flights, I can even get it to do the 5.5 degree approach at EGLC London City (with full air brakes extended).

I have four letters for you: ENRS. Good luck 😉

PS: It is doable, but the locals (i.e. seagulls and sheepshaggers) will HATE you for it

I too will fly the heavy iron anywhere where the runway is reasonable and there is some sort of facility there that can accommodate it.  If you're doing freighter versions, you can make up any one of a number of reasons why some special haul might be required.  Not a big deal really.  After all a certain amount of "pretending" is necessary in the first place since we're not flying actual flying machines but a PC...
