Again, a 3rd party app, fsaerodata updates all the ICAO airport codes.

Thanks. I did not know that.

Imagine if a version of P3D made use of clouds like those seen in UNIGINE here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tui5-x2i2zw

Incredible clouds!

Also notice how those "autogen" trees are scaled correctly unlike P3D/FSX where trees are the size of Redwoods!

THAT is just unbelievable! Wow - engines sure have come a long way.

I think UNIGINE should have been one of the options.

Those clouds look amazing , but apart from the fact that UNIGINE may not be suitable for a flightsim, that would be the nirvana we're all looking for.

I don't know if it is or isn't. I know nothing about it.   But that's usually what we hear when we see a great looking sim engine.  Outerra was a good example of that.  I would imagine a good starting point would be, is it a global earth model?

Have a look at this showreel.

I would tend to say this will be the ultimative flightsim engine 😀

But I also know that we will probably won't see such things in the next decade … or ever 😢

Because all these show cases and videos you see are related to a "Limited Space" or what is called a "Scene", it is not an open world were you can go wherever you would like to, it presents loops and tricks to make you believe you are moving in a free world but behind the code this is not the case.

People need to understand P3D is an open world and different rules apply under such circumstances. This has been explained many times by @Rob Ainscough, we cannot compare apples with oranges..

Ironically, both of them are round....a bit like a global Earth model

I think this is all going a bit pear shaped.

Video says "Planet Scale: from gras blade to solar system"

Would make me think that you should have indeed a complete and round world.

But nevertheless, we won't se it in near future.

Hi Guenter,

That doesn't mean it is using "real world" buildings, cities, lakes, rivers, etc. pre-loaded and configured inside the simulator by the time the simulation starts, they could be generating the scenery using techniques to make you feel that you are travelling around the world, but this is not the case, it is loading specific scenes during certain times.

It is how games like unreal, Assassin's creed, Call of Duty and many others work as otherwise end users hardware limitations would get in the way, things will continue to change very quickly as technology continues to push boundaries every day.

lol.. actually it is like this:

Simmers:  'Can we have it yet'?

LM: *Internal discussions* Hell, that will break, this, this and this.. what we do? Eureka!!, this is the plan..
LM: Official response: 'We will work to improve the user experience'

Simmers:  'Can we have it yet'?

LM: *Internal discussions* didn't we told them yes already? Yes.. let me confirm..
LM: Official response: 'We continue working to improve the end user experience'

Simmers:  'Can we have it yet'?

LM: *Internal discussions* For god sake, how much clearer can we be!!, let me try again..
LM: Official response: 'End user experience is very important to us'

Simmers:  'Why we don' have it!!!

LM: *Internal discussion* I can't concentrate with all the whining! what we do?
LM: Official response: 'Your call is very important to us....'

Conclusion?

Let them work!!! haha

S.

I'm stunned people vote for "ATC". Go online, IVAO or VATSIM, it's much better than electronic ATC simulators.
