No Comm/Runway Dis

Featured Replies

Going to send in a support ticket but thought i would ask here aswell, since installing the new update for the 747, I cant get my wind forcasts anymore, it just says No Comm, also when taking off I get a caution warning that says Runway Dis, this is all new issues after getting the new installer.

For the winds forecasts, you now need to log into the datalink system on the ACARS screen on the center CDU. This requirement is related to the upcoming Global Flight Operations system.

Page 197 of the PMDG Intro document explains it. This section is part of the -8 supplement to the original 747 Intro manual, but the datalink login procedure now also applies to the original 747-400, which was updated to make it compatible with the -8 expansion.

Once you have logged in to the datalink, you can then get your route and descent wind forecasts as you have always done.

Not sure about “Runway Dis”...

Just to be sure.  You are on the runway you have programmed into the FMC correct?

Just to be sure: on the main FMS, you need to have entered at least departure airport, destination airport and flight number (which can be made up). Right now I’m flying Atlas Air 585, so my flight number would be GTI585

After doing this on the datalink page of the center CDU you should see the departure, destination and flight number filled in. You need to add estimated departure time and estimated time enroute, which don’t have to be accurate. Also the two-letter airline code. For Atlas, the three-letter code is GTI, and the two letter code is 5Y. You can enter any two letters you want. Then click on the lower right LSK to log in.

Again, don’t overlook entering your flight number on the main FMS RTE page along with departure and destination. All three must be filled in to initialize the datalink.

Thanks JR,

I have been initialising the FMS /CDU but overlooked the flight number will enter on next trip and see how it goes.

Thanks for the help. In my day job I’m used to Honeywell Primus Epic MCDU!  but have been simming for 25 years and have had all PMDG products for many years always something to learn in the Sim and real world.

PMDG have really excelled with the -8 it’s awesome and that’s coming from a rotary guy

ill report back tommorow 🙂

ORIGIN, DESTINATION, and FLTNO (in ICAO format: AAANNNN, where As are letters and Ns are numbers)?

Ah! In my day job, I do the maintenance side of the Primus Epic. I’d love to see a developer do a PMDG-level emulation of that platform someday.
