September 3, 200619 yr Sorry if double post, but in the future navdata.at will be charging a small fee to its users for nav data updates. This is to cover the increased cost incurred by the owner, since DAFIF data is no longer available and a new supplier of data had to be found. Richard will be using data provided by European Aeronautical Group (EAG).If you read German, the thread can be found herehttp://www.wcm.at/forum/showthread.php?threadid=199883Seems perfectly fair to me and will insure that Richard Stefan can continue to supply us with airac updates. ricardo
September 3, 200619 yr Hi,I don't have a problem with it either. After having enjoyed many years free navdata, I don't mind start paying for it. The new data comes indeed from a commercial vendor and therefore has to be paid for. I only wonder if they provide also SID/STARs beside navigational data. The EAG was former SAS flight services and I wonder how their coverage outside Europe will be. September 3, 200619 yr HiJust want to thank Richard for all the work he has done in providing us with navdata.I think that the last free cycle will just have to do though as it does`nt seem prudent to pay for one of the most esoteric parts of FS.I just hope that Vatsim does`nt buy into this pay for navdata idea.I wonder if user submitted sids/stars will still be available for free download?Pete
September 3, 200619 yr Hello,I don't mind paying. However, will I be able to download data for all my payware products. Products like PMDG - LDS - FS Build - Squawkbox.Right now I cannot get an update for FS Build 2 from Navdata, will I be able to get updates from Navdata or am I out of luck and will I have to wait until FS Build gets around to it.I would like to see a list of supported products as well as versions supported. September 3, 200619 yr Yes, nav data will be provided for all the addons currently available, just under the new name of fmc data from navigraph. In addition procedures will be available in the future too :DCheck out www.navigraph.com Alaister Kay
September 3, 200619 yr Hello,So they will "NOT" be supporting FS Build 2. Well, without FSbuild 2 I'm afraid I will not purchase this option from Navdata. It's the only flight planner I use for FS. September 3, 200619 yr Hi,As Alaister states above (Quoted Below)."Yes, nav data will be provided for all the addons currently available, just under the new name of fmc data from navigraph. In addition procedures will be available in the future too."Navdata does not currently support FS-Build 2. Navdata only supports FS-Build 1. So if you go by Alaister's statement, FS-Build Version #2 will not be supported.I HOPE ALAISTER IS WRONG!!! September 3, 200619 yr Hello,Would Navdata be prohibited from supplying this data to its customers?. Navdata supports other payware products, why not this one.I'm not saying Navdata is "required" to support FS-Build. However, if Navdata wants my money, then this product needs to be supported. Why, because it is one of the top planners around for FS.If not, then my data will slowly get old and it will not be updated. I'm not going to pay a company to supply me with nav data for some of my programs and have to scramble to find updated data for the others. Its not like i'm asking for support for an obscure program that no-one uses. THey cant just go willy nilly and do wahtever they want with someone elses product. FSBUILD makes their own navdata; most payware aircraft let navdata handle it. I dont know how it all works out behind the scenes but if FSBUILD wanted navdata to do it then Im sure they would. I would imagine its a calboration between all the different developers, their format for the data and NAVDATA putting it all together.
September 3, 200619 yr Hello,FS-Build does not own the copyright to navigational data. When this data was free I could see Navdata not creating a build for this product since the producer of this product was doing it. Since FS-Build has stopped making this data available to its customers on a monthly basis, there is now a market for this data and to have it updated monthly. This navigational data has nothing to do with FS-Builds copyright of its own product. September 3, 200619 yr Hello,What format?. Its a text document, unless I missed something. Now if you want to say that the text document that FS-Build created using this free data belongs to them, I can agree to that. However:How can you tell others that they cannot create a text document that consists of the same "FREE" navigational data and make it available to the flight sim community? September 4, 200619 yr Mike,I have maybe read an earlier message of yours incorrectly but I assume you know that generally the navdata.at updates for FSBuild have been in FSBuild version 1 format?Since you (I think) say that FSB v1 format will be supported surely that is good news?
