4.2 to 4.4?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I always depend on my son to handle this kinda stuff. I want to move to 4.4, so do I just remove the client and then download and install the new one? or is there more to it? Thanks!

You should uninstall and install all three 4.4 components. This will also provide you with PBR capabilities, though I believe the MaddogX is the only current aircraft that has PBR textures.

Thanks, Dave. is there any certain order? I guess not for uninstall, but to install the 3? Its client, scenery and what else? Sorry I dont know much about computers or files. I suppose new ones know where to go?

Yes, that should be enough, you should uninstall the v4.2 Client and install the new v4.4 Client. That will give you the code changes needed to allow a quick install of v4.4 with its new features like PBR, etc.. If you want to add the new PBR feature included in the stock/default aircraft, you should also uninstall the v4.2 Content and install the new v4.4 Content (but you should check other addon content is not affected). The Scenery portion is also optional, and I'm not really 100% sure, but I think it will not add anything PBR-related improvement to the default scenery, and we should wait for the 3rd. party developers to produce PBR enabled scenery.

Suggest starting with just the client... and stop there, for now.

The others are optional and can be done at a later time (maybe when your son is around..)

I did just client from 4.2 to 4.4. Worked fine. Updated shaders, new config and display drivers.
