January 1, 20197 yr Hi guys, From time to time I see basically everyone having these envtex, reshade, pta and presets etc.. How does these work? Do they overwrite all textures and shaders? Also, what would you recommend to make everything more realistic or just good? Some of them are free and some of them are fairly cheap, I would love to enhance my sim experience!

It basically just modifies the shaders and a few other little things. It is cheap and very easy to use. PTA (shaders) and Reshade (post process effects) work well too but they take a little more setup and maintenance to look good in different conditions. Matt Wilson
January 1, 20197 yr My advice, check out the many video's and video streams and see what they are using to enhance their sim. You can start with mine if you like......... AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 4.2 32 gig ram, Nvidia RTX3060 12 gig, Intel 760 SSD M2 NVMe 512 gig, M2NVMe 1Tbt (OS) M2NVMe 2Tbt (MSFS) Crucial MX500 SSD (Backup OS). You don't have to spend a ton to make it look good, actually it depends of how deep do you want to go in the reshade/enhancement of the sim. I didn't do much to mine, yet it looks far better than vanilla version. The weak point of P3D is IMO bloom and light shadows. If you really want to have a "ready steady" to use reshade i'd say go for envtex. It's proven and seems to be straightforward. I don't have it so I can give my opinion, but people over this forum and other ones seem to share the same opinion. Remember that even with rex you just can't make basic vanilla airports look more realistic than add-on. And since I think orbx is dynamic with the seasons no need to see ugly ground textures My system specs: Core 2 quad Q9650 @ 3.51ghz, GTX1060 6gb, 8gb ddr3 1333, 1Tb seagate barracuda, 500gb wd blue
January 2, 20197 yr Try TomatoShade. Download some of the preset others did. (I like rdpresets.com). It is all for free, so just give it a try and see if you like it. AMD 7 7700X, 32GB DDR5, RTX 5060ti 16GB, 2 x Samsung 1TB NVMe, 1 x 4TB sata SSD, Windows 11 Prof

January 2, 20197 yr I'd try this stuff but it seems a faff; I got P3Dv4 to get away from tweaking nonsense! I've also seen that messing with your shaders can create problems when updating the P3D client. And there's so many different ones with ENBserie, envtex, PTA, Tomato etc, I've no clue what does what or what the performance penalties are. If this stuff was quick, easy and cheap to do without a million configuration options required to get a good result and breaking future updates I'd be more onboard with it. As it stands I just have ORBX Global and REX4TD to make things look nicer in general, and I have HDR on in P3D settings which I've adjusted to make them more subtle. But increasingly I am starting to think the best way to make it look better is just get XP11. It's the easiest one to go with, and will need the less tweaking from what i've read. My system specs: Core 2 quad Q9650 @ 3.51ghz, GTX1060 6gb, 8gb ddr3 1333, 1Tb seagate barracuda, 500gb wd blue
January 2, 20197 yr Isn't Envtex basically doing the same job as REX4TD+SC (which I already own), it's an environmental texture addon? I liked REX4 for it's speediness versus previous REX versions, although again it has a million and one choices I don't bother with, I just have it auto generate a theme based on the weather. I see TOGA have an Envshade product, that would seem to be a competitor to PTA and Tomato? It mentions it works nicely out the box without a million settings. At only a fiver it could be worth a punt as Tomato sounds complicated. January 2, 20197 yr Author I installed and applied tomatoshade with some profiles for aircrafts and presets. Looks a lot better! But these is for shaders I believe.. so envtex would complete this nicely I assume?
