FSX: Nice UI upgrade

Featured Replies

I really have to complement the FSX design team on improving aspects of the UI that, in the past, were shall we say annoying. I like the display settings: Put my slider to mesh 19m, instead of editing TMVL in some config file. Many other things likewise. Finally got rid of these cryptic mesh radius and levels and all that. The only thing I didn't like, is that in FS9 I minimize the ATC window as much as possible and put it to the side. This one takes over my panel. Some of the view menu stuff I haven't totally figured out the new ins-and-outs yet.Under the hood I like the controls stuff out of fsx.cfg.scott s..

Talking of the UI , I think they've finally fixed the fuel load bug - "please enter a number between 0 and 100%", however, you still can't tab through the list of fuel tanks - surely tab order in a windows form is really not too hard to fix / implement. However, if that's my biggest gripe so far its really not too bad!CheersJames

I really, really like the new Select Aircraft menu and the new entries in the fltsim.x section of the aircraft.cfg to make sorting and finding aircraft easier. The use a a thumbnail.jpg picture rather than rendering the model will also be a great advantage - will really speed up your ability to change aircraft. The Pilot Logbook is a really nice update addition.I undocked the GPS and the ATC window and moved them to my second monitor - with no obervable impact on the FPS counter. Those are a definite hit in FS9.Also, did I say I really like the new select aircraft screen/ menu?

>The Pilot Logbook is a really nice update addition.>One of the old vers of FS had a logbook.Isn't the Logbook just bringing back an old feature from years ago?If FS2004 has a logbook, I have never noticed/used it. :)Rhett

FS9 does indeed have a logbook, in the settings you can choose to enable logging if you so desire. As far as I remember though, it only adds a new entry when you exit flight sim, so if you make multiple flights in one sitting it will add an entry based on all flight hours but will credit the last aircraft flown with the log entry. Someone may be able to correct me if this is inaccurate.

Now, exactly what you'll get I won't say because we've added in some suprises and "special" rewards. You'll have to figure it out. ;)

If you fly well enough, you'll get to drink ... FROM THE FIREHOSE!

.. or even better...You'll get your very own Jump To Conclusions mat! :(

Make sure the "Blue Max" award is in there. That would be Way Cool Jr.Rhett

Tower view allowing jump to nearest tower and nearby towers is nice feature.scott s..

The new logbook even logs the number of landings, just like a real life log book would, except you don't have to ask your instructor "did we do 3 touch and go's or 4??"
