August 9, 200619 yr That's right. From what I gather from what M. Gilbert said, was that October 3rd is the date they are shooting for, and that even they (MS) has not firmed up the exact date. I didn't take that as being a firm commitment to Oct 3, just an indicator of what they're trying for.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

August 10, 200619 yr That's the price you pay for living in the Peoples' Republique of Europa. It's the same all over Europe, those Eurocrats have to be paid somehow...
August 10, 200619 yr Author Hi,Let's see. You quote 54.99 UKP, which equals 104.81 USD (about). Remove the UK VAT of 17.5% gives 88.92 USD. So it's about 23 dollars (12 UKP) more than in the US. Still more, I agree, but not quite as shocking as before.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
August 10, 200619 yr Moderator Tom,But why should Brits have to pay 12UKP more for the same product? I don't know who decides the UK price but if it's each company selling FSX then Amazon have just shot themselves in the foot. People over here are quite savvy at searching for a good price and if Amazon are charging an inflated price then people will just not buy from them.In fact, I'll boycott them for any future purchases after this.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 10, 200619 yr It's not just higher salestax that makes it more expensive here.I'm pretty sure the unionised workers in UK stores make more than their US counterparts for example (and that includes online stores). Then there's the higher property taxes, simply put the warehouses and offices cost more to operate per square meter than do similarly placed ones in the US.Pretty likely Amazon UK makes a pretty similar margin (in percentages certainly, maybe even in real terms) to Amazon US.Expect highstreet prices to be similar or slightly higher.
August 10, 200619 yr Moderator The company I will buy from is based in the Channel Islands which is taxed much lower than the UK mainland. I expect their prices will be lower than Amazon. You might be surprised how little shop workers earn in the UK. The unions are not particularly militant and many workers will not even belong to a union. They're probably paid the 'minimum wage'. In other words, the lowest they can be paid without the employer being prosecuted! Ray (Cheshire, England).
