Very good news. I wonder what the problem was.

Yes sounds good , but 30% over what? Whats the base or starting point? We have no FSX reference...maybe FSX was slow or had an issue to start??30 over FS9 as we know it? Hope so! Just being the devils advocate here :-)Bill

Exactly, 30 percent over what? I don't think it means 30% over FS9. It just means 30% over where FSX was before they tweaked the code.RH

I just wish they had a set of webcams and broadcast it on the internet. One in each room. and one in the meeting room. We can then have a 24hr vigil of Support.:)Manny

The complete quote is (my emphasis):"I can happily report we have made good progress on the performance of the sim. I think perf (as we refer to it) has been one of the most concerning issues on the team, and our awesome developers have been doing great things. We still have more to do, but when I hear a developer say they just increased perf 20-30% with one check-in (when new code goes into the sim), it makes me feel better about the whole thing."Perhaps not such good news?

doesn't mean a thing. We're extremely conscious of performance and go to great lengths to improve it even if our software is already performing rapidly. As our system is used by stock traders where sometimes seconds can count in making or loosing a profitable deal there's a good business case for that. That doesn't mean that it was slow when we announce we've improved performance...

I was going to start a new post but decided against it. It's related to Paul's blog which mentioned this... "I recently added emergency vehicles to a mission at Edwards Air Force Base so that they "scramble" to the runway as you're coming in to land. Cool little details like this add a lot to the experience."I was just thinking of the possibilities with a feature such as this. I remember when arriving into Malaga Airport in Spain a few years ago and seeing a follow me truck racing to meet the aircraft as they were coming in, then showing them to their parking spot. Or coming into Cardiff Airport in Wales and seeing the fire trucks on stand-by near the runway (I think its standard procedure to have them at the ready for every landing aircraft in some countries - but I am probably wrong about that). I wonder if something like this can only be handled if you were in a mission, or if you could make a script (or some other piece of software using the SDK) that would allow this to be the case every time you fire up the sim. Paul is right in saying that little details like this can only add to the immersion element within flight Simulator.

I hope that they have stopped that ATC controller who keeps telling me to leave the runway at the first exit all the time - most aggravating.Barry
