[10APR21] GTN Trainer download links

Hi,

Garmin is releasing a new GTN trainer, usually every 6 months.

However, our software installer will most likely fail downloading the latest trainer automatically reporting a "404" error (file not found), because Garmin is usually removing the previous GTN trainer all-in-one installer from their servers.

We're doing our best to update our GTN products and make them compatible in a timely manner and we're sorry for this unavoidable inconvenience.

In the meantime, you might be able to download the latest compatible trainer as individual components, or the GTN trainer 6.21 from the link at the end of this post.

NB: Download all the following files, then double click the '.msi' files to install

I seem to be in bad luck. I just today decided to give the GTN plugin another try and found out that it stopped working. I do not want to download the old trainer. I can wait.

Any time schedule for the new version that can use the new trainer?

How soon is the question and for now I can only say that besides support we're allocating all resources on this (yes this means the G500 gets another delay as well).

It doesn't seem too much changing from trainer v6.50.1 so far, but we won't know for sure until 100% done.

Besides, the version posted above is the latest supported version, which is the same as the only one available no later than last week. The links above (updated) gives you the latest compatible trainer, as well as the latest updated database (current as of JUN19)

Thanks. But before uninstalling a nicely working trainer, downloading 10 files and reinstalling, I'd rather wait. It is not that important to me.

As best I can tell, the included navdata is the 1809 cycle.. is that what you are seeing as well?

Hi Bert, I didn't pay attention I was testing with another database...

Yes I was mistaken and you are right, it is cycle 1809 which now also includes charts for Canada!

OP updated with newest DB.

This is the complete database cycle 1909 officially released by Garmin!

Navigation     1909
Basemap       19M1
Obstacle        19B5
SafeTaxi         19S5
Terrain            16T1
FliteCharts      1909  (USA + Canada)

To install the newest db over the existing, download all files listed then double-click the .MSI file.

Totally brilliant!

Downloaded the DB files, ran the installer, and Bingo  1909 databases active in my GTN.

Hi Jean-Luc,

I understand this isn't necessarily within your purview, but what is the latest AIRAC database available in the trainer? Is it still 2004? It seems quite a lot of approaches are getting updated now (perhaps in conjunction with sheet-canning a lot of VORs). For example in August they updated the ILS approach at my home field for the first time since 1999 (more or less). I'd love to have the latest AIRAC cycle. 

And though this is a question that is definitely not in your purview, perhaps you know the answer: I have a GTN database subscription for the 750 in my actual real-world airplane. Can I update the trainer to the latest AIRAC cycle using that data? Garmin says no, but I figure it's worth asking.

As of today the latest DB included with the GTN Trainer is the 2004. As for using your real world subscription with the trainer, there is a lot of information about this already posted in the dedicated discussion here: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/546848-rxp-gns-530w430w-v2-database-update/
