July 15, 20196 yr Hi Mates, I'm considering to buy the Carenado Cessna 337H HD V2 for the originality of the Push Pull. 1. If you fly it in P3D, how do you like it? 2. The HD is not only for the external model but also the cockpit? Are the gauges as crisp as A2A aircrafts? 3. Is there an option to NOT display the default GPS and fly only with the classic avionics? Thanks. Edited July 15, 20196 yr by Simicro FS2024
July 15, 20196 yr The 337 is a real classic.. still a lot of fun to fly. The gauges are fine.. like a2a, maybe not, but certainly clear and legible. You have to choose a GPS option.. I have the GTN 750 installed in the panel.. but you can disable it and it will be dark if that is what you would like. Bert
July 15, 20196 yr Author Thank you Bert for jumping into my thread. You mean you have the Flight1 GTN 750? I have the RXP GTN 750/650 but they are not natively supported and I'm not into file editing so I will forget my RXPs. I want to be sure I understand you correctly: so it is possible to disable ALL GPS and instead I have the dark panel. Is that correct? Edited July 15, 20196 yr by Simicro FS2024
July 15, 20196 yr The better option would be to choose the Flight1 GTN 750 and use the RXP provided app to switch to the RXP unit. No panel editing required. I can assist if you run into difficulties.. Bert
July 15, 20196 yr Author It is very kind of you Bert for the offer for assisting me regarding the GPS. For the time being, can you please confirm that I understood correctly: it is possible to disable ALL GPS and instead I have the dark panel. Is that correct? FS2024

Not exactly, there will always be a GPS in the panel.. but if you choose the Flight1 GTN and you do not have this gauge installed.. you will get a dark GTN gauge. Not sure why you would want that.. though.. Let me just clarify, the 337 is an older release, but it is still fun to fly.. If you are looking for something new and shiny, the Seminole or C421 might be a better choice.. Bert
July 15, 20196 yr Author I did not understand there will always be a GPS in the panel. Thanks for the clarification. And no I would not like to have a dark GTN gauge. Yes I am aware the 337 is an older release, I am mostly attracted by its shape and push pull particularity. You did answer to all my questions Bert, thank you. FS2024
July 15, 20196 yr And besides that the 337 is still fun to fly (I also have the GTN750 installed), it features great engine sound. July 16, 20196 yr The 337 I like, it is the aircraft in many of my saved flights. My Dad investigated buying one in the 60's, but like me he chose to buy a new home instead, once he factored in the costs of training and ownership. He wanted one for flying to see family but realized the 337 is not the best for flights from California to the Midwest, where his family lived. A pilot has to consider the niche he or she is trying to fill when purchasing an aircraft. Two of my friends, like me, were recreational pilots but all three of us balked at the costs because for us flying had to have a purpose of getting from point a to point b efficiently. The 337 was and is popular with pilots because of the forward of the wing view, offering great safety around traffic in flight, plus the centerline thrust. Indeed it was a classic, amazing it was not more popular but given the freeze in the 80's on GA aircraft building for a while, many classics were put on the back burner. Of course GA is exploding today, having a rebirth, especially with fractional ownership which fits the wallets of even middle class pilots quite well. The killer on aircraft ownership are the annuals, hangar costs in dense urban areas, and risk of wind damage in almost any state in our country. In 1996 Deer Valley airport in Arizona lost a ton of GA aircraft when we were hit with a half hour of 100+ mph winds topping at 115mph, the highest wind ever recorded in Arizona, when two Mesocyclones merged. My CFI, when I was learning to fly Light Sport starting way back in 2006 now (wow, thirteen years) taught me how to tie an aircraft so it would not be torn from its moorings, he said they, their Falcon Field FBO, had never lost an aircraft from winds. But the process was so complex and cumbersome with the tiedown chains I never quite got it, which is why I learned to prefer trikes and the PPC I will eventually buy, now that I am a more typical 170# pilot vs. the 240# pilot I used to be. July 16, 20196 yr I truly love the ambiance of the virtual cockpit. Carenado has done a great job a 3D modeling. Full of analog gauges. It’s a great platform because it’s fast for a relative light aircraft and can fly low as well, keeping the finger on the paper map. Edited July 16, 20196 yr by vbazillio Vincent B. July 16, 20196 yr Author Thank you Felix, John and Vincent for yours inputs. Much appreciated. @vbazillio great HD screenshot. What clouds, sky and shaders are you using? FS2024

Actually, it's a picture taken last year and I'm not at all sure about which PTA preset it was ! Sorry ;( Edited July 16, 20196 yr by vbazillio Vincent B. July 16, 20196 yr I don't have P3D, but I do have the Carenado 337 in FSX:SE & I agree that it is a great little GA add-on. It trims and flies very nicely IMO. I cannot vouch for it's flight dynamics as I'm not a real pilot and haven't even been a passenger in a real 337. However, as a flight sim experience it's very enjoyable.
