January 5, 200620 yr >My main impression is that the childish attitude of trying to>find something to kick Microsoft with, imagined or otherwise,>among the punters here hasn't changed a bit in 3 years.>>I wonder ever more why they keep putting out new versions as>the kiddos will just say "it's just a souped up older version>and I can have the same now with addons".I agree with J Wenting (:-eek).However, FSX looks MILES better than FS2004. The autogen, the base textures etc are a massive improvement. FS9 is three years old, and that is patently obvious when compared to current graphics technology :) Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
January 5, 200620 yr The water textures look beautiful :). I can't wait for FSX :D---------------------------------------"If it doesn't have a VC, I won't be flying it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/smug.gif" ... hang on a minute .... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/unsure.gif ... that is too restrictive! Most flight simulator planes don't have a fully functional VC .... I'm happy to fly non-VC planes such as the brilliant iFDG range, Samdim's fantastic aircraft, POSKY's wonderful planes, and many many others! I'm the richer for it :). January 5, 200620 yr The images I just saw of FSX were impressive.....but alot of the shots I saw have been matched in certain fs9 sceneries. There is obviously a big difference, but the big questions to ask is - will fsx be more performance friendly? Will I be able to fly PMDG standard add-ons or AI and still be able to fly into Heathrow or JFK with the high level of scenery detail I saw in those screen shots? Will FSX accomodate the latest graphics technology? Because even the highest end systems are limited by fs9 and add-on programmes. Those screenshots are great, but they are no use to me at 10fps. CheersTristan
January 5, 200620 yr Anyone noticed that during the webcast video, when the presentation started showing the boat and helicopter, the view went from spot plane to VC directly? Wonder if the 2D will be optional?
January 5, 200620 yr im not impressed. The "looks" are okay but not really revolutionary i think.A lot eyecandy. Im looking for details on ATC, SID, STARS, AI, Blurries...I am confident though that MS does a good job here
January 5, 200620 yr I like the birds in the boat shot, plus VFR field textures (for USA quite likely) look better.Still holding back on a proper judgement until it's all complete.Keep plugging away MS .. ;)
January 5, 200620 yr I expect to see the frame rate of the simulator. It is useless to have such a wonderful simulator if then the frame rate is too low as the most important thing for me is the planes being a flight simulation Alfredo Russo
January 5, 200620 yr >I expect to see the frame rate of the simulator. It is>useless to have such a wonderful simulator if then the frame>rate is too low as the most important thing for me is the>planes being a flight simulationTHis is one aspect of FSX which I will be focused on..performance. You can have impressive visuals, but not as a slide show. CheersTristan
January 5, 200620 yr Itlooks very impressive. The only question I have is over the trees. They look very 'flat' in pic 009. Still, as it is work in progress we can probably expect them to move in the wind and look realistic on release. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
January 5, 200620 yr As I wipe away the drool. Looks impressive! Definalty gonna be worthy successor to FS9. Since it doesn't come out until Nov imagine what they can do by then. Can't wait!http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...s/Mullins01.jpg"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."Don MullinsNiceville, FL.
January 5, 200620 yr I can only say WOW!I do not use many add-ons, simply because I couldn't afford them last year. Now it seems an new FS is about to emerge, offering an incredible amount of eye candy itself. Today, many scenery add-ons cost almost as much as I had to pay for FS9 when it came out, and they are usually restricted to some small part of the world. Even if FSX will not match the quality of every add-on available today, the whole scenery seems to enjoy a spectacular boost in appearance. I'm thrilled!I know, there is the system performance issue and many things, the simming community wants to be adressed. But even if not every wish will be fulfilled, I am inclined to say - judging from those screenshots - that FSX will be way better than FS9 (which I thought was very good itself). As for the trees, Howard, you may want to look at pic #21. They look simply great there.Greetz,Alex from Germany
