September 13, 20196 yr Impossible to activate prepar 3d v 4.5. Everything perfect, download and installation, but when I click the activation box, it closes the programe and stops working. No message from windows cannot execute, nor error code or anything. I have followed all the technical recommendations for downloading and installation (run as administrator, no firewall, no antivirus, no usb, update all drivers, etc.) and I have not been able to find a solution after several days of many downloads and installations. Can anybody help me ? Thank you
September 13, 20196 yr There's a recent Win 10 update that's causing this sort of problem for some people. There are discussions in the Win 10 forum and perhaps the P3D forum as well. September 13, 20196 yr Try uninstalling P3D Client (will not affect other installs). Then reinstall using "Run as Administrator". Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 13, 20196 yr Commercial Member Suspend your current antivirus checks before trying to activate, sometimes false positives occur due to the licensing checking, etc. which interrupts the process and shut down the application as it can be appreciated on your video. Don't forget to enable it back after you completed the process, if this fails post directly in the P3D forums so the licensing team can proceed to start helping you. S. September 13, 20196 yr Is 4.5 worth it currently or does it break most add-ons and scenery? Edited September 13, 20196 yr by Kilo60 Chris Camp

My previous install of v4 had been thru 3 upgrades and was time to start fresh. It was a lengthy process considering all the Orbx and aircraft to be downloaded/installed. Overall, I am very pleased with v4.5...it seems to be smoother across all FPS. Also, seems like they have make some changes to the lighting engine (not sure, but it is looking better for me). I have not experienced the long load times or stutters that have been reported. But, again, this is a fresh install. Hope this helps. September 14, 20196 yr That's good news! I noticed most payware add-on are still listed for v4.0... Chris Camp
September 14, 20196 yr Couple of thoughts...did you install outside of the windows protected folder (../Program files (x86) to dedicated folder - to something like C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3dv4.5) which is recommended and did you install with Admin rights and are you running Prepa3dv4.5 with Admin rights, this has caught me out a few times when running some addons, they will nut run correctly without Admin privileges. September 14, 20196 yr Are you sure that installing Prepar3D outside the Program Files folder is "recommended"? I have always installed FSX/P3D in the relevant Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder, and I have never had to run or install anything "as administrator". Maybe it's because I have disabled UAC (or whatever write protection was active in older versions of Windows) every time, and also because I have not yet upgraded to Windows 10. September 14, 20196 yr I have NEVER had a problem with P3D, since I installed it OUTSIDE the defaulkt location. In fact PMDG recommends that their products are installed outside the relevant Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder. Jack Jack J Jackson Castalla, Alicante, Spain
