September 29, 20196 yr This was me landing the new millennium falcon liveried 747 into Manchester yesterday morning. It was a horrible gusty, windy day with heavy rain showers , but my years of practice with the PMDG QOTS paid off 😄 A liberal use of the F2 key was required with the wet runway! 787 captain. September 29, 20196 yr Good job getting her on the runway and making a spectacular reverse thrust application. Now I guess you want another stripe.😁 Thank you. I live in Orlando and haven't seen that 744 at our terminals yet. Galaxy's Edge is great just needs the other ride opened up. We need that livery for the PMDG 744 (FS9, FSX, and P3D). Thanks for sharing the video. You must have had a friend record the landing on the ground. I think this was the aircraft’s first time at Manchester in this livery , to be honest by the time we got back to Manchester I’d forgotten about it and wondered why there were so many people on the ramp taking photos of the plane as we taxied in. I thought I’d just do a quick google search to see if there were any nice photos to show the kids, and stumbled on this video one of the spotters must have taken. Manchester has a big community of plane spotters who are normally out in all weathers. Its sometimes interesting to watch a landing or take off you’ve done from the outside , just like using the playback in the sim. 787 captain. Glad to see the promotion of the new land at Disney World. Stay safe of in the air flying these great birds. How long before your airline retires the 744 and what plane do you think you'll be transitioning to? Stay safe of in the air flying these great birds. How long before your airline retires the 744 and what plane do you think you'll be transitioning to? We’ve already started the retirement phase, we had 12, we have 8 left at the moment with the last airframe due to leave at the end of 2021. I’ve already got a tag on my luggage made from the skin of what was my favourite 747 G-VFAB, care of planetags.com, its very sad to be honest I’ve been flying them for 23 years. Looks like I’ll have to make a choice between the Airbus A330/A350 or the Boeing 787... I still can’t make my mind up. 787 captain. No short straws buddy because you're living our dream : ) Thanks for your kind comments , I started out as a flight sim enthusiast first though !. I used to spend all my school holidays flying MSFS and solo flight on my Commodore 64 and then on the Amiga. I know exactly how it feels to be dreaming, craving flight, and simulation was such a great outlet for that frustration , and still is. With the simulations available today, and combined with VR you’re practically doing the real thing. i was simply a fellow simmer that got lucky, so you never know where this hobby will take you. 787 captain. September 30, 20196 yr A most excellent landing, sir! I notice that you managed to scare away the little Jet2 at about 54 seconds into the video .
