. . . don't know whether anyone noticed, (and away from frame rates) that Beaver slips beautifully when on a short final: this is a first for Microsoft. It also sounds pretty much like the real thing. If she was payware I would be tempted.

And I have a feeling that you will be sorely disappointed. If and when it doesn't meet your expectations, please do not come back here and complain that you are angry, that they lied to you, and that you will never buy anything ever again.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

They just got their first DX10 cards about 3 or 4 weeks ago. And as of the Avsim conference, they had not yet had a chance to do much of anything with it.Tell me, where do you get your "facts"?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

So, now you don't even believe the guys who are developing the product? Unbelievable! As my grandpappy used to say, it never pays to document your ignorance.Doug

I still don't get it. Both Demos have ran great for me. Am I missing out on something I have loved the Demos. Chased the cars and the boats around in the ultralight with FPS locked at 30. Landed during rain and snow without the FPS dropping down past 21 or 22.Used other craft such as planes and boats and even scenery in the 2nd demo did much better FPS wise. Now I want my FSX maybe it will have slow FPS in the big Cities if so, I will stick to small Airports and Bush flying. Just like I did with FS9.

Hey all, I came accross this in one of the forums tonight. You will have to try it yourselves to believe it. Make sure you back up your files. "Basically, autogen texture files are stored as DXT5 .dds files, and this guy suggests converting them to smaller DXT1 .dds files to improve performance. Some people who have tried it have reported significant performance gains. So, it looks like the autogen performance issue might not be primarily linked to polygons, but to textures. Personally I'd like to see this go one step further and reduce the .dds texture sizes down to practically nothing, because my hunch is that the detail lost wouldn't be recognized unless you're bush flying. I remember someone mentioning the size of the autogen texture files used in the beta so tonight I decided to check the files out myself. It turns out that the autogen textures alone were around 800mb, the biggest file been 4mb which is fairly large. So I decided to do a mini experiment with the textures. I converted all the .dds texture files to .bmp and then converted the .bmp files to .dss but this time using dxt1 instead of dxt5. After converting the .bmp files back to .dds using dxt1 the total size of files came out to 130mb

Please forgive my ignorance, but how do I save the Beaver from the first demo release and add it to the new demo? Thanks.

Hi FolksThere's a new Flight Simulator X Trial Version, Build# 10.0.60905.0so it's based on post-beta code, potentially I'd guess on final ?There's still only 3 aircraft, the Beaver has been removed & substituted with the R22.If you already had the original demo, before installing the new versioncopy the Beaver & associated gauges to a temp folder, then reinstate afterwards.File Name: FSXDemo.exeVersion: 1.0Date Published: 9/29/2006Language: EnglishDownload Size: 636.2 MB (size is wrong)Actual downloaded file size is 798 MB, (837,058,560 bytes).Flight Simulator X Trial VersionCheers to George (Ananda) for spotting this.HTHATBPaulhttp://www.basys.f9.co.uk/resources/images..._sig_500x94.jpg
