GSX latest update , no simobjects displaying!

Nothing worked.  Even a full uninstall and re-enstall.   Still no visible sim objects from your program.  The new PBR GSX does NOT work with P3D 4.4x.   Something needs to be looked at or rewritten.

Why don't you just install v4.5H2?

Right... I don't see any reason not to go with 4.5 HF2 either. It represent a substantial improvement in terms of how PBR is displayed. I would also like to add that, to do a FULL uninstall, you best follow the guide provided here:

Honestly, your bets best right now is probably to follow the guide, get rid of your 4.4 installation, and reinstall 4.5 form scratch. Something seems quite wrong in your installation, and given the acrobatics you're been doing, I fear you might have just consistently worsened it...

Ben, I can't use 4.5 on my system.   I get side-slashing color bar anomolies, once at any airport site. I can only use 4.5x.  So, I had to uninstall GSX/GSX2  PBR, and it is no longer available to me.  I'd like to ask Umberto to make available on his site, the last stand alone version, before the big PBR release, or I have lost total use of GSX.   It simply does not work properly on my system. Until this release, I had no issues using any updated version of GSX.

GSX works with 4.4 just fine, it's just that 4.5 works better, and not just for GSX. So, I can only repeat and confirm, on a *properly* installed 4.4, GSX will work normally.

None of the GSX objects use anything specific to 4.5, they are 100% standard SDK PBR objects, and PBR is supported starting with 4.4, so they WILL work.

If they don't work on your system, it's because your installation has a problem. Of course, the method I suggested to reinstall, was in order to SAVE you from reinstall all your addons, since that reinstall doesn't change any of your settings.

A "proper" CLEAN reinstall, requires removing these folders:

%PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\

This is a real clean install, but uninstalling/reinstalling this way, will require reinstalling ALL non-compliant add-ons, those that don't use the add-on.xml method to install, because you'll lose the scenery.cfg, the prepar3d.cfg the dll/exe.xml files, etc.

I suggest investigating this, since it's clearly not normal and, in fact, it might be the same thing that is causing the GSX objects being invisible, that is a problem with video drivers, video driver settings and/or video driver tweaks.

Or just P3D settings wrong/too high for your card. You might try removing the Prepar3d.cfg file located in %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\ and see how it works with a default one that will be recreated on the next start.

Thank you Ben and Umberto.  I think that I will just completely remove P3D from my system, and start over.  If that does not bring your latest GSX online...then...I guess, it is, what is is now...and I move on.  Thanks again for pointers and tips.

Oof... Yes, I would suggest to start over. In the past I've had some issues that, no matter what I did, I just could not fix them until I uninstalled P3D as per the guide and started fresh. Let me emphasize it's important to follow the guide: it will instruct to remove some files and folders that the uninstallation routine does not uninstall automatically.

And... now, FSDT pushes out an update for GSX I suppose (or at least I was warned of when opening P3D this morning). Who wants to try first???.

Thank you All!   Everyone's input was SO MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

Umberto...you were right...there was some sort of fatal video flaw...for I not only have P3D 4.5x running, but your GSX/GSX2 is running now just fine...having a blast with it....and all looks good.  So..a lesson learned....sometimes you have to do the hard thing....full delete....and start building once more.  That's the plan for the rest of the afternoon.  Again...a great community came to a stumped guy's aid...and the outcome?  ****SUCCESS***!

Ed..everything running fine now at my end....P3D 4.5x is installed...as well as a fully functional GSX/GSX2 PBR update.  I had a faulty P3D 4.4 installation, for whatever reason....

Yep...that was the cure. I just installed GSX/GSX2/PBR...and have P3D 4.5x on hold to come here and proclaim; Success! 🙂

Glad you have it sorted.

Thank you , everybody!  I have at this time pretty well, 92 % of everything reinstalled. The first thing right off, that I have noticed, by a full and complete deletion (yes..I totally deleted everything down to a clean and empty dedicated hard drive that is reserved only for P3D...is that I now have no stutter in animation, even down to 15 FPS in running 4.5x.  I must have had something quite seriously wrong in the driver/rendering, or some files that were corrupted, even though they did not bring the flight sim (P3D 4.4x) to a crash. I dunno...totally talking through my hat...but with now installing my massive Orbx and other scenery and utility base into full install, virgin P3D 4.5x(the latest downloadable version from L.M.) or..whether there is noticeable performance advantage between 4.4 and 4.5...., the performance of P3D 4.5 over my long time running 4.4, ***is*** very noticeable.

Silver lining I guess,  being basically forced to start virgin....and I finally get to see what P3D 4.5x is all about.

One comment though...in running both, 4.4x to 4.5x...I do prefer the ULTRA water setting visuals of 4.4 to 4.5      4.5 seems somewhat less intense on the surface and the water, less 'frothy' and immersive.

Cheers,

Ses
