January 17, 20206 yr Hi all, I'm not sure if I'm missing something here but after FSX CTD's is there anyway of reloading with panel states and configs as they were before the CTD. At the moment a basic save on FSX will not reload payware aircraft such as the PMDG 777, 737 etc... in the state they were before the CTD (i.e. with the FMC setup, correct panel states and so on). I was wondering if there was any 3rd party software, freeware or payware that would resolve this issue. It is extremely frustrating to lose all progress of a long flight due to a CTD. Thanks in advance for you help, Harry
January 18, 20206 yr FSUIPC has a save feature that can be enabled, however I'm not sure if it's available in both the free as well as registered version. I don't use it because it introduced pauses into my flight during the save although others use it with great success. Also, be aware that things like FMC flight plans, etc. may not be saved because that's an internal thing that FSUIPC doesn't control. Even then, depending upon the timing of saves it may not reflect the moments before your crash. Edited January 18, 20206 yr by airernie
January 18, 20206 yr AirErnie is correct. The FSUIPC resume-from-crash feature works well for the default aircraft but more complex add-ons that are programmed differently from the default aircraft will likely have all settings at their default values (cold and dark and so on). I try to make a habit out of saving at each waypoint, after transferring to a new ATC controller, or during a new phase of the flight. January 18, 20206 yr A lot of what you seek is already within your grasp. With the PMDG acft, when you do a save in FSX, the panel code intercepts that command and the panel also does a detailed save of the panel state. I believe that to get back there, you have to first load the saved scenario in FSX, and then go into the PMDG FMS menu and load the paired saved PMDG panel state from there, and then you're back to where you were at as of the time of the save. See the PMDG 737 manual, page 67. Also, the auto-save facilities in FSUIPC are capable of triggering and managing the auto-saves done by a fairly wide variety of advanced panels. See the FSUIPC Users and Advanced Users manual for more on that. I fly exclusively general aviation aircraft from RealAir, Milviz, A2A, Carenado, & Alabeo. I have FSUIPC save backups every 6 minutes and never notice when it saves. I use SSD's. For all but the A2A aircraft I find that all settings are restored with exception of GPS and Autopilot. My Reality XP GPS (GNS in some cases, GTN in other cases) all start fresh at the reload. I save my GPS flight plans so I just pause the sim and load and activate the GPS, then activate the AP and AP settings, usually NAV and ALT modes. That's it. I have little experience with my A2A Cessna 182 and Piper Comanche as with them I fly only short flights. When I experience CTD's they appear to be due to very complex weather conditions during longer flights, or very complex weather over high density 3rd party scenery. January 21, 20206 yr Hi. As you are experiencing CTDs with aircraft like the PMDG 777, I am guessing that these are memory related (OOMs) due to hitting the 4GB VAS limit of FSX. If you are not already using one, could I suggest therefore using a scenery cfg configurator to limit the amount of scenery you are loading into FSX? With a resource intensive aircraft such as the PMDG 777, you may be able to complete more flights without a CTD by just having your departure and destination airports active in your scenery cfg. Just another approach which might help avoid memory related CTDs completely. Bill
