November 26, 200619 yr Still experimenting...............I backed up my Effects, Guages and Sounds folders in FSX and copied and pasted the same from FS9 but not agreeing to replace anything asked for.Seems the quickest way of doing things and no problems here. Now the 'Cherokee' radio's are working too. :-) Dave Taylor
November 29, 200619 yr Ummmmm Craig:Glad to hear that you got the Citation X working at least after a fashion. Guess I need to try again. Don't remember exactly why she didn't work when I tried earlier, but the Citation X didn't work for me. Did you have to do anything special or different from importing or installing other FS9 aircraft into FSX for the Citation X?Ron: Can't wait for the upgrade. The Citation X is my default aircraft in your neat freeware hanger at my home airport (KLWB). Just curious, did anything develop on the larger Eaglesoft hanger that was in the works, or did it have a slow death?Happy Flying:RTH
November 29, 200619 yr Been a few weeks but I think I made sure I copied all the CX gauges from FS9 into the CX panel folder and all CX textures from FS9 to FSX. I've really had no problems with it. Did the same for the Aeroworx King Air. The only time I had problems was loading them at start up so just make sure you load with default aircraft and THEN change. Craig
November 29, 200619 yr Well the CX windows are missing and few other issues will show up in FSX but no matter because the CX 1.0 is due to be discontinued in favour of CX 1.5 or CX 2.0. The final designation is undecided at this point in time:-) The larger hanger is not likely to be produced.
November 30, 200619 yr Flight Environment:You can use it without having FS9 installed. Just create a folder somewhere, call it e.g. "FE". Within it create a folder named "Texture" and launch the FE setup. Point it manually to your newly created "FE" folder. At the end of the setup process it will try to backup your FS texture folder and naturally fail. No worries - just close the backup window and finish the installer.IMPORTANT: manually make a backup copy of your FSX main "Texture" folder.Launch FE and set it to your liking. You can use DXT3 textures too, if you want to. Save your selection. Now check the FETexture folder. You'll find the texture files you selected in FE here. Copy those you want over to your main FSX Texture folder. For clouds you'll need all cirrus*, cld*, cumul* and stratus* files. Those definitely work with FSX.The sky_* files DON'T work, your sky will be messed up if you try them in FSX. Shouldn't be too bad since the sky has improved a lot in FSX anyway. The water file (OceanHeightField.bmp) seems to work although I haven't thoroughly tested the results with shader 2.x settings for water. The sun files (sun*.bmp and corona1.bmp) should work, but I haven't tested them yet.Have fun. If you screw up, revert to your backup copy of the main Texture folder and try again.Regards,http://www.bremmekamp.com/img/misc/avsim.jpg
November 30, 200619 yr Hello Craig:I am afraid I am still doing something wrong. My problem is that with any "cxca???" gauges I get an "application error" which says: "The instruction at "0x20c6aeda" referenced memory at "0x2304073c". The memory could not be "read". Click on ok to terminate the program." I click on ok and FSX shuts down. If I remove these gauges, the aircraft and panel (piecemeal) comes up with no problem.I may not be understanding exactly what you mean by "all CX textures from FS9 to FSX". Without repaints, the only textures of which I am aware are the "texture" and "texture.1" bmp folders for the aircraft in the "Eaglesoft Citation X" root directory for the aircraft. Am I missing some somewhere else? What I have done is simply copy the "Eaglesoft Citation X" aircraft from FS9 Aircraft to the FSX Airplanes folder. I than copied all of the "escx???" and "cxcz???" gauges along with the "cxsimicon.CAB" into FSX. I have tried putting the gauges in the aircraft panel folder, and in the FSX Gauges folder with the same results. This method has worked for other aircraft. Possibly do I need to "install" rather than simply "copy" the downloaded aircraft?Any chance of seeing my error?Respectfully:RTH
November 30, 200619 yr I'll look at my files again but it might take a day or two as I've been workin to darn much lately.Give me a chance to take a good look at it.Craig
November 30, 200619 yr Thanks Craig:Moved the Aeroworz B200 Kingair over even though it is a little bit hoggish on framerates for my system in FSX (Pentium 3.2G, 1G 400 memory, Radeon 9800 Pro - No problem in FS9).Everything seems to work for me with the exception of the Radar Altimeter. The off/on switch does not seem to be recognized (Yes, I clicked several times for brightness). It does have strange multi-monitor quirks though. With some secondary windows on a secondary monitor, when unlocked and moved there, the panel blacks out. I can only get it back by going to the upper toolbar and reselecting the vfr or ifr panel again. Others work fine. (i.e. Throttles turn the panel off. Radio stack has no effect and works fine) Of course on my low end system, I cannot leave them displayed, especially the GPS (Unflyable). Thanks for the atteniton: No biggie, I can wait for the FSX update.Respectfully:RTH
November 30, 200619 yr Ye old Twin Bonanza by Eric Dantes works fine in FSX and is a beauty to look at. As already mentioned by others, the PMDG Express 1900D also fits like a glove.Happy flying:RTH
November 30, 200619 yr Correction:All gauges work in the Aeroworx B200 Kingair.Enlarge the individual gauges. It is much easier to get response from the switches.Happy Flying:RTH
November 30, 200619 yr >The sun files (sun*.bmp and corona1.bmp) should work,Actually they probably WON'T work, because they aren't the same filesize as the FSX ones.Regards,http://www.bremmekamp.com/img/misc/avsim.jpg
December 2, 200619 yr Milton Shupe's D18 and Howard 500 work like a charm. They look beautiful too (just like they do in FS9 IMHO).With the new FSUIPC for FSX, Rwy Info, the RKG_fuelstat gauge, and RKG_Speed gauge work well in panels too.Happy flying:RTH
December 6, 200619 yr The 'Avro Vulcan' from PSS, it's gone straight in and it sounds absolutely gorgeous. The best gets better. Dave Taylor
