October 31, 200619 yr Hi there everyone, i was wondering about freeware aircraft portability. The only payware Aircraft i own is the Lds 767, but id like to try some high and fast flyers like some of the freeware military jets, say F-16 or the 22. Is there a systematic way to do this? IE putting this folder here moving that there, rename this ect..... thanks in advance!Happy flying =)Jason
October 31, 200619 yr Jason, The best way is trial and error. If it crashes FSX then get rid of it. You'll learn more than you want to about FSX that way. Craig
November 1, 200619 yr Does anyone know why new downloads for FSX like iFDG, and others like FSpainter are white? (FSP777 is alright apart from to load and white wheels. They show up white even before I tick FLY NOW. Flightplans have shown that Aardvark and Evolve do not give this trouble.Do I have to adjust certain settings. If I cannot find a solution then I am restricted to just having Aardvark & Evolve planes. On FS004 I have a lot of paid aircraft working .I have the De-luxe edition and have the correct minimum requirements if not beter. I am getting desperate.Christiaan.
November 2, 200619 yr I've got the MegaScenery Southern California V1 (San Diego, L.A) working just fine in FSX.I created hard links to the nine folders in "H:Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004megaSceneryLA" inside "H:Microsoft Flight Simulator XAddon Scenery". For everyone else it would likely be C:Program Files... ;-)These hardlinks make the same folder appear twice on the hard drive without requiring any extra space. You can use tools like "Junction Link Magic" or "NTFS Links" to accomplish this (these are not the only tools to do this, but Windows itself cannot perform this job without extra programs)Then I manually added these folders to the FSX scenery library and everything worked instantly. Initial load times are high (seems to hang forever around 32% complete), but after FSX has loaded the textures, performance is generally good. Haven't tried the Autogen with this yet.

November 4, 200619 yr Dreamfleet C177 Knoxville FlyerCopied from FS9 both below to FSX/AircraftFlight One C177Flight One C177RGCopied the gauge file to FSX/GaugesCopied the FS9/Sound/Dreamfleet C177 to same in FSX.Thats it. Everything works, no missing textures, all is as was in FS9. I still fly this one quite a bit, good to know it worked as I didn't expect an update to it - its' already made two versions.Note: I Didn't want to install from the wrapper just in case it screwed it up from me being able to still use it in FS9. Probally have to reinstall from wrapper if I ditch FS9 - but I don't expect to doing that for quite sometime.Regards'Garett

November 26, 200619 yr >This instruction should work with FlightOne aircrafts which>use the FlightOne wrapper puchase module.>>Install one aircraft at a time.>>1. Rename the 'Texture' directory to something like>'Texture.Original'>2. Install your F1 aircraft with the original download and>designate 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X' or whatever name you>used for FSX as the root target directory.>3. The installation will create directories "Aircraft" and>"Texture".>4. Move the folder (or folders if there are more than one>variant of the aircraft) containing your aircraft to>'SimObjectsAirplanes' >5. Copy everything from the 'Texture' folder in the root of>FSX to the 'Texture' (or 'Texture.xxx' where xxx is name of>the variant) folder of your aircraft FOR each variant.>6. Delete the 'Texture' folder under FSX>7. Goto back to step 2 for the next aircraft.>>8. When finish with all you F1 aircraft, delete the 'Texture>folder' under FSX, and rename 'Texture.Original' back to>'Texture'>Does that include the Level-D 763?>Hope this works out for you simmers.> Dave Taylor
