I think it'd be safer to belly-crawl through a San Francisco homeless camp wearing Speedos than to put one of those masks on your face...

That's hilarious. It would work if she had a HEPA filter that'd cover her mouth and nose!

Wow! Thanks Doug. I just ordered 2x (40 masks). I've been using the one I had on hand for the three times I needed to use it, and been spraying it down with disinfectant spray after returning home.

I (we) aren't going out much anymore. The best info I've found about the half-life of the virus indicates 24 hours on cardboard is a safe bet. I have concluded, therefore, that 24 hours would also be an OK estimate for paper masks. UV rays are particularly effective in causing the virus to become moot (remember, it's a protein not a living organism). Just remember to remove the mask by the ear loops and don't touch your face, mouth, or eyes until you've sanitized or washed your hands. And above all, stay safe....Doug

I'm glad you did this early Fr, Bill. I've actually ordered mask form two different sources. If they both deliver we'll have enough of a supply to last until the end of the earth (which may not be that far away) LOL. My wife, being a public health  nurse, has a supply of "stuff" here in the house that rivals a pharmacy. The only thing we were short of is masks.

I received my order of disposable gloves last week. I have to use at least one pair everyday for my foot care (moisturizer and Urea 20 cream. It's part of my diabetic routine anyway, I was unable to get any from Walgreens or CVS as they were sold out completely.

So I figured I may as well get well supplied with 10 boxes of 100 each. That's a 500 day supply... I did however put a box in my car just in case I need to glove up whenever I go shopping. These are non-sterile exam grade only, so I'm not shorting any Covid-19 needs.

Unlikely, given shipping time.  Virus reportedly can persist on surgical masks up to three days - I know healthcare workers who are rotating their "disposable" masks in sets of four, because on the fourth day, mask #1 is safe to use again.

Also, you don't need to worry about the virus coming from China anymore.  It's got a global distribution system now.  If you want to find it, look around you.

My niece, never one to leave money on the table, has set up quite a little side business making masks......

In various colors, and with addons like unicorns and etc, for children.

@HiFlyer - Those are quite nice.  I'll be happy to put in a bid on a couple of the cat ones.

In all, a lot more attractive than the white-handkerchief ones I've been improvising.

If you are serious, I will connect you with her. I think they are cheap, and because she has been simply giving many of them away, she is either barely breaking even or actually losing money, which is where the bank of Devon comes in, and why I was graciously allowed out of the house to escort her to the store to buy supplies for her endeavours a few days ago. 🤑
