Waves in P3Dv5?

Featured Replies

Probably a stupid question. Sorry...

Please, how do I get the waves I've seen in some videos. Do you have to have Nvidia WaveWorks, you can buy it?

I must have missed something...

You can turn up the wind speed, should give you some waves.

turn up your water setting to max or ultra, what ever its called and set you wind to speed to 30knots. Put a check in the bathymetry box too

Thank you very much. Bathymetry box checked or not doesn't seem to matter more to me. The wind, on the other hand, does the trick.

Remarks: the foam and the movement of the waves is only perceptible around the plane as a kind of "bubble/lod" of a few meters. Can we change that?
Is the color of the water changeable separately from the other textures?

Thanks again.

Richard.

Yeah, rendering distance is extremely short for everything related to water. Same reason why it gets so blurry / 'out of focus' quickly. Water colour we can't touch at present, might be possible down the road with new shader software or perhaps hidden options.

Though you have to ask, if it can't render waves outside of a small bubble, is this low resolution and kills all the tweaking we currently have... was there really a need for them to upgrade the entire water tech?

Sorry to ask, but I have not yet found the slider for wind speed. Where is it? Or does it not exist with TrueSky!

It does, head into 'Weather' and then select the 'Wind' tab, there you can define the range through 'Speed with Gusts'

Can we get real weather for v5 at least somehow?

In jurisprudence, there is a principle - you look for the person who benefits.

Thank you. Cataract (in German "Grey Star") does seem not to play well with grey over grey ... 😉

I suspect FSxWX, after few minutes, to make my sim crash. Maybe by asking unexpected things in term of clouds ? I stop using it. In the other side, OpusFSi has been released today.

I heard that REX Skyforce weather engine works but I haven't tried it myself.
