Your answer is absolute correct and very intelligent 🙂 But I'm not sure if this is enough to win the Nobel Prize 😉@Chock To be honest: after posting I went into the kitchen and had a meal. When I came back I saw your answer. Because it's you we can keep this as a secret, if you want 🙂 😉 Any other opinions? Always safe landings 😉

May 6, 20206 yr Author @JRBarrett Jim, you are right with the reservoir 👍 We can see the river just behind the dam wall of a reservoir with a special history: But it's not nearby Phoenix, AZ - I'm sorry. @HighBypass and @vc10man Mark and Rick, you were absolutely right if you've thought it would be unsolvable if it's a place in the middle of Nowhere (only @Ted Striker with his horse Silver could solve this 😉). So it must be a very famous location or a place nearby a very, very famous location 👍 Well thought! 🙂 Yes, the next megacity is known by _everybody_ in this forum. (No, it's not Chicago with it's Meigs Field 😉) Stay sane all together Torsten Edited May 6, 20206 yr by PhotoReal Earth Always safe landings 😉

May 6, 20206 yr Author Well done, you've found it 👍 🙂 We can see Morris Reservoir in the San Gabriel Mountains (could not believe when Wikipedia told me that the reservoir and its slopes were the Morris Reservoir Naval Weapons Test Site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Reservoir ) And we' ve seen the San Gabriel Dam in the third picture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Gabriel_Dam I hope you enjoyed it a little bit. The last photo with the dam gave it away. Thought it looked familiar but wasn’t sure without the dam. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 16, 20206 yr Author So it must have been a pretty good time! Have you been at this sightseeing point (horizontal arrow in the picture)? I would like to drive the San Gabriel Canyon Road with the motorbike and back over Glendora Mountain Road (vertical arrow). And then the other way round 🙂 It's not easy to follow this road with your fingertip so how big fun must this road be in real life! Always safe landings 😉

And then the other way round 🙂 It's not easy to follow this road with your fingertip so how big fun must this road be in real life! I’ve ridden my motorcycle all over those mountains when I lived there. I used to race Superbikes in the AMA circuit and a bunch of the other racers in the area would meet every Sunday morning in Victorville and would ride the Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the bottom near Phelan, thru Wrightwood, Big Pines, all the way to somewhere around Cedar Springs. There was a cafe up there were all the riders would gather for breakfast or beverages and then after the break, we’d turn back and ride back down to Victorville. It was a lot of fun and since we knew the route we’ll we’d ride fast, like almost track fast, dragging our knees around turns and stuff. The California Hwy Patrol would be up there but wouldn’t even chase or try chasing us since there was no way they’d be able to catch us, plus the sheer number of riders going up and down would make it impossible to even try. The highway patrol was mainly there to asst in accidents since there was always a few idiots who went to fast and crashed or went off the mountain. It was a lot of fun and since we were experienced racers we never had any issues but looking back on it, riding at that level in the mountains was not the smartest thing to do and I wouldn’t recommend or endorse anyone do it. Believe it or not, to this day, huge amounts of riders are still gathering and riding that route in the same fashion we did back in the early 90’s. If you look on YouTube you can find tones of videos people shoot up there riding, plus the accident videos. I think at one time it was considered the most dangerous Hwy in California due to all the motorcycle accidents and deaths up there. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

When I close my eyes I can see a video with you guys cruising in this sunny landscape 🙂 Can you remember having seen a Piper Cub above your heads in those days?
