May 29, 20206 yr A little late to the party. Just now considering updating from 4.4 to 4.5. My question is whether to bother to update the content and scenery. Will updating the content affect any installed aircraft? More importantly, if I update the scenery will I have to reinstall my global mesh? What about the ORBX vector, lc and various regions? Thanks in advance, Tom Tom
May 29, 20206 yr You can check here to see what was changed: https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/prepar3d/what_is_new/new_v45.html Make sure to scroll down and check what was added in the three hotfixes as well. If you install the scenery package you will need to reinstall FTX Global, as it replaces many original texture files and a new scenery package will overwrite the Orbx files. I personally would also reinstall the regions and LC to make sure things are synchronized properly. I don't use Vector. Uninstall Client. 2. Delete Shaders 3. Install new Client. Be prepared to wait for the new shaders to install.. initially you will get a black screen! Be patient.. 4. If it does not start up, delete the prepar3d.cfg file. Bert
May 29, 20206 yr Thanks a lot, Bert! I will give it another try. Maybe I was simply not patient ... May 29, 20206 yr I went from 4.4 to 4.5 and only updated the client. Works well and I think the only thing that I would have considered useful in the content would have been an update to the C130. Much easier just to use the client. After that just wait for MSFS to come out. Cheers Steve Hall
