uninstalling addons

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble uninstalling a scenery from P3Dv4.5. It's made for v5, which is a mistake as I only use v4.5.  I don't knnow how to get it off my list of extra scenery in the view list. It a gray checkbox.

How do I get rid of it so I can install the older version?

I took the shell off my racing snail, thinking it would make him run faster. If anything, that made him more sluggish.

Three ways:

1. See if that scenery comes with an uninstaller. If not, see 2.

2. First goto the folder Prepar3d v4 add-ons in your Documents folder, then open the add-on.xml file to see where the scenery is installed. Then goto that folder and delete it. Finally delete the xml file and its folder in which you found the folder information.

3. Use Lorby's Addon Organizer.

Hope this helps.

Check on Lorbys forum here on Avsim, but I’d say that will be a false positive. What message are you getting?
out of interest which scenery are you trying to delete, it may be 4.5 compatible?

Are you sure you deleted the addon.xml file that pointed to the Scenery? P3D is telling you it can't find it btu something is trying to load it.

Everyone,

I'm really sorry about this, but it's fixed. It was to do with me trying to install to the same location, but P3D will only see a brand new Scenery (and it does).

Thanks everyone for you interest and it's just down me to not being about to do the obvious.

Out of interest, where would that addon.xml be, as I've seen a few?

Generally speaking, every addon has its own add-on.xml. And not all add-on.xmls are in "\Documents\Prepar3D Vx Add-ons". Where the xml file is depends on how the developer of the addon chose to install it.

In P3D, go to "Options-> Add-ons". This dialog lists all add-on.xml based packages. This is where you can enable and disable them, and it shows you where the add-on.xml file is located, should you want to remove it.

Best regards

Have you run into the scenario where you disable an addon in P3DV5, only to find that the one that is listed one line above it is the one that is actually disabled?  I have stopped trying to disable addons this way and now only use your Organizer.

Not really. But I did have the situation that addons on an additional discovery path (ORBX library) were no longer automatically added to the add-ons.cfg file. Every time I started V5 I was asked if I wanted to activate them. Could be some manifestation of the same problem.

Best regards
