Why FSX and Not FS10?

Featured Replies

I was sitting here just wondering whether to fire up FSX and the above question came into my head - perhaps too much morning coffee! We have FS9 and we'll have FS11 but why don't we have FS10 - everybody (including me) is writing FSX? Yes, I know that it's Flight Simulator X but the "X" is 10 not "X".Just wondering. :-beerchug :-) Now back to more interesting points. :-hah

Is the X perhaps standing for eXcellent:-) With Microsoft you never know!ByeBert

Hi,X is the Roman digit 10. You know I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X."X" looks nicer then "10"Rgds,Hugo

America education is the best out there. Don't lie about it you all know it!

FSX sounds sexier.:-)

X is 10, but also goes with the Microsoft theme- X-box, X this, X that? X also = extreme, (X-games). Put it all together= FSX.

After all, what were the previous versions named? FS 95, FS 98, FS 2002, and then... FS 2004: A Century of Flight.Apparently they decided to go a different route for naming this version and use, as fsx said above, a seXier and more eXciting name, for marketing reasons I'm sure.Cheers

Without it, how would we ever get to the ever so wittyFSuX;)Allcott

And if the theme continues, then we'll have FSXI next. That we will call FSSexy. R-

In cabalistic philosophy, X refers to both birth and death. Oh God.... I hope it isn't the latter !!!Geezz... my brain has gone haywire this morning.:-beerchugI'm for FSXXX, now that would be real fun.Bob (Las Cruces, NM)

Actually, if the next one comes out in 4 years, then it will be FS 10 (for 2010), then we'll really be confused.>And if the theme continues, then we'll have FSXI next. That>we will call FSSexy. R-

>FS9 was not actually FS9 remember- it was FS 2004:ACOFHardly anybody called it that here. Almost everybody called it FS9. :-) :-)
