It's not a fuged story, its what we've been told at the Aerosoft forum.

They was not testing the final product, only some alpha builds with many limitations. One of them was missing off-line mode. So I don't know, if will be possible to start MSFS without internet connection, but I'm near to sure, that lost connection during flight do not cause simulation stop, only lost on-line features. For these cases has MSFS an offline scenery.

If this comes from the manager of the european distributor its not some fairy tale from an alpha tester.

Aerosoft said its still in place, so Mathijs talked actually about the release candidate.

If you buy the DVD version you even have to insert Disc 1 or MSFS won't start.

So basically pretty much every modern game that to play today? Like all of them on Steam.

Lol, clutching at straws much?

I feel honoured that you only joined AVSIM just to go on on me. Really.

Interestingly i can play all games i have also when i'm offline, also the games i bought on Steam. No game, no sim i have just closes with an short message when my connection fails for whatever reason.

If you are happy to be forced to be online for no real reason ... fine.

I’ve read their statements and they have confirmed a disk is required if you purchase the physical copy. That’s it. The rest is speculation. Maybe MS will require a constant internet connection. But as of now it hasn’t been confirmed.

Here a quote from Mathijs:

The DVDs contain only the installer and the content (aircraft, world etc). The actual simulator software is downloaded during installation. That way you always have the latest version. For this the installer will guide you through the creation of an Xbox account (if you do not have one) etc. That means you need an active internet connection during installation. You also need a connection to run the simulator (it updates itself at every start when needed). But to be frank, it makes very little sense to run this offline.

Lmao. To start most games from Steam you first need internet connection. If you lose internet while playing, it's usually fine. DCS is the same way. Same will be true for MSFS.

It's nothing different here. It's 2020 and if you don't have always on internet and then you likely have bigger priorities in life that you need to handle. Quit whinging

And here's a quote from Hans Hartmann later down the page:

"There is an option in the Microsoft Store app which allows to use a PC (1 PC) to run store content while not being online, but I can't tell or promise you that this setting will work with MSFS."

We can cherry pick stuff all day to support whatever case you want to prop up. Until it is confirmed by Microsoft or until it releases and we can see for ourselves, it's all just hearsay.

The name sounded familiar. I have seen some of us, the Fly! forum old timers, flocking back here. Isn’t the new sim scenery, Terrascene on steroids ? And I find the Asobo team having the same can-do spirit of Rich Harvey and his team.

It's not the same as "you need active internet connection during whole flight, otherwise simulation will stop, if connection break", I think 😉. But MSFS has only a basic off-line scenery localy stored, so if you want a full experience, internet connection is required. It doesn't any news, everybody knows from the beginnig, that the full quality of scenery will be streamed from server. It isn't possible to have stored whole Earth in this details to home storage. But it doesn't mean, that every connection break cause the complete simulation stop.
